A few months ago, I made a promise to myself to read more books. The piles of magazines that arrive at my house, along with the distraction of television, movies and other entertainment, kept me from reading as many books as I once enjoyed. I was determined to make a change. A book in the saddlebag is always a good thing on a motorcycle trip. You never know when you're going to find yourself holed up in a diner, waiting for the rain to stop so you can continue on your journey. A book can be a great companion.
The BEST WESTERN PLUS Beach Resort sits right on the beach, steps from southern Florida's pretty pale green waters. It's the sort of place where you could easily spend a week, walking the sugary white sand beach in the morning, playing a game of shuffle board in the afternoon, and falling asleep every night to the sound of the crashing waves.

My brother-in-law is a successful young consultant with a big International firm. As you can likely guess he also travels a lot. His most recent project is a ten week stint in San Francisco, but here's the catch ---he works every Friday in Toronto.
Every Monday morning Chris catches a direct flight from Toronto to San Fran, leaving early Eastern Standard Time; the flight is 5 hours. Thursday afternoons he repeats the process and arrives back in Toronto late in the evening. Friday mornings are especially tough!
I picked his brain recently to understand how he deals with the time changes. After all, during his high pressure, long hour days, he needs to be sharp.
Here are five tips to help fight jet lag:
I live in mortal fear of having my motorcycle stolen. Sure, I've got insurance, but I would never be able to recover the time and energy, blood, sweat and tears that I have invested in my ride. Not to mention the hassle, and the feeling of violation that accompanies a theft. I just don't need it. So, I've been looking into different forms of motorcycle security.
The best security for your bike is parking it indoors in a secure garage or parking lot. If you can park indoors rather than on the street while you are on your motorcycle trip, do it. It's hard to steal a bike that you can't see.

A visit to San Antonio, TX should be considered incomplete without a visit to the famous River Walk. This network of walkways along the San Antonio River banks is lined with shops, restaurants, bars, and is one of the biggest pieces of the city's culture, not to mention a huge tourist attraction.

For motorcycling's first century, men have dominated the field. In recent years, women have discovered that the joys of riding don't have to be limited to the pillion, and more female motorcyclists have taken to the road.
The Internet has become a great gathering place and resource for women riders.
The two-story hotel is surrounded by a jungle of palm trees, ferns, and hibiscus. Skinny pathways wind through the vegetation and lead to the two pretty swimming pools and hot tubs. Breakfast is served outside from a grass-roofed hut. And kids have a blast hitting around balls at the miniature golf course.
You could stay at the hotel all day, or walk three-quarters-of-a-mile to the pristine, white sand beach. Downtown Naples, with its shops and restaurants, is only about two miles from the hotel.
I'm not a runner. NEVER have I been a runner. I've tried over the years to be a runner. I never could get the rhythm of it. I still will give it a go on my daily walks with the dog. I think about how nice it would be just to go out the door and take off on an effortless run. It seems like it would be so exhilarating to run for miles without stopping to catch your breath.
The stylish BEST WESTERN PREMIER Miami International Airport is just minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from the city. It's one of the hotel group's premier properties with modern decor, plush bedding, and 42-inch screens in all rooms. A hot breakfast, wi-fi, and rides to and from the airport are all complimentary.

It's been 7 races into the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup season and already we've seen a little bit of everything. From a rookie winning the Daytona 500 (Trevor Bayne), to a near win for the sport's most popular driver (Dale Earnhardt Jr, Martinsville), to a return to winning ways for the sport's biggest love-to-hate-him driver (Kyle Busch), the 2011 season has been a mixed bag of headlines.
Here's what we can (hope) to expect in the remaining 30 races of the 2011 season:
Motorcycle travel used to be simple. Load up the bike with a tarp and a sleeping bag, get out the map and ride. Simplicity has given way to technology, as there are now GPS solutions designed specifically for bikes.
"GPS" stands for "Global Positioning System," shorthand for the satellite-based navigation system that forms the basis for live mapping. A network of 24 NavStar satellites was completed in 1993, and became operational in 1994. Four satellites signals are needed at any given moment to calculate a user's position. Until 2000, non-military users only had access to a degraded signal, which limited GPS's accuracy. Since 2000, GPS accuracy has been greatly improved for consumers. The U.S. Department of Defense is responsible by law for maintaining GPS as a national resource, under the direction of the National Space-Based Positioning, Navigation and Timing Executive Committee.
Every year the most up and coming Country music stars perform at a 4 day festival known as Country Thunder in the farm town of Florence, Arizona. Living in Southern California, I've got plenty of great riding options. One of the very best places to ride in the area is also a fantastic destination for business or pleasure: San Diego.
San Diego has a rich history that stretches back into the 1700's, and a living history that still stands in the form of Old Town, which dates back to 1821 -- antiquity in California terms, where homes from the Twentieth Century are considered significant landmarks.
One of the most thought-provoking general sessions I attended last week at the Global Business Travel Association of Canada's (GBTA) annual conference was the Corporate Sustainability Challenge. The session was led by Steven Pacifico, manager of sustainability and stakeholder engagement for The Delphi Group.
In the last week of March, the newly branded Global Business Travel Association of Canada held their annual conference in Toronto. The event was sold out for months, and as one speaker noted in his address, they "did a good job dealing with all the scalpers trying to get in." Now THAT"s a hot ticket!
The mood was more optimistic than in recent history, and much of the discussion revolved around moving business forward, new and innovative approaches to business travel, environmental issues and price transparency. No one was predicting doom and gloom, which felt really good!

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation, the Motorcycle Industry Council and the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America are collectively donating $10,000 to the Japan America Society's 2011 Japan Relief Fund, and each organization is encouraging its members to make their own donations. The MSF, MIC and SVIA have each added links to their websites in order to make it easier for members and the general riding public to help out in this time of great need.
