Despite an oil spill that devastated the Gulf of Mexico coast in 2010, things are back to normal, making a vacation getaway that is a perfect way to escape the snowy North. The beaches are clean and Southern hospitality is waiting to cater to your every relaxing desire.
Here are some of my favorite beach-front cities that are sure to give you the vacation of a lifetime and a reprieve from your stress.
Gulf Shores, Alabama
Voted one of the Top Three Beaches in the World by Southern Living, Gulf Shores, Alabama has turquoise Gulf waters and soft white sand will mesmerize you while being only steps away from your room at the BEST WESTERN on the Beach, the only major hotel chain situated right on the water. From water slides, a trip through Civil War battle sites, or dolphin cruises, you'll fall in love with the Southern comfort you will experience here. For more information on things to do, visit here.
Dunedin, Florida
Located in the Tampa Bay area, Dunedin offers a West Florida version of a tropical escape, with small-town flavor. Explore shops, art galleries, restaurants as well as the marina, which is located conveniently next to the BEST WESTERN PLUS Yacht Harbor Inn, a boutique waterfront resort that overlooks Saint John's Sound and includes access to the Gulf of Mexico. Each well-appointed room faces the water, with balconies or patios to view the Florida sunset in its splendor. For things to do, visit here.
Biloxi, Mississippi
If you're looking for nightlife, while having the beautiful coast nearby during the day, Biloxi is the place to be. Located on the Biloxi Casino Strip and only a short distance from the Gulf's famous white beaches, the BEST WESTERN PLUS Oak Manor can be your base while you go out to the casinos, explore the Family Fun Center, experience the Biloxi Shrimping Trip or check out the Gulf Islands Water Park. Whatever your kind of trip, the wide array of choices in Biloxi will give everyone in the family something they enjoy. To learn more about the Mississippi Gulf Coast, visit here.

We know it is a big world out there with lots of places to see and experience.
