Day 5: Missoula, Montana and Home Again

All good things must come to an end, and it was the same with our trip to Montana and Idaho.
After another delicious hot breakfast at the Best Western Grant Creek Inn, we checked out of the hotel, loading Monty one last time for the short ride to Montana Harley-Davidson.
We returned to the dealership, and Chandra greeted us. She checked the bike in as we unloaded and re-packed our belongings back into our luggage.
Chandra gave Monty a thorough inspection, and I made sure to return the tool kit, cable lock, keys and registration materials that we had taken with us on our trip. A few signatures, and we were all done. I felt badly that Monty was so dirty and covered with bugs when we returned him, but Chandra assured me that he was in perfect condition - and besides, it was somebody's job to give him a good washing and detailing.
After we shopped the dealership for appropriate souvenirs (we came away with $150 worth of shirts, hats and decals), Roy, one of the dealership employees, gave us a lift to the airport. A few flights later, and we were back in Los Angeles, and shortly back in our little house with our dogs and cats.
This was really a fantastic trip, made all the better by the collaboration between the Harley-Davidson resources and the Best Western Hotels. Planning a route where we knew that we'd have safe, clean, comfortable, affordable lodging eased our minds; knowing further that each location would be biker-friendly was even better.
We will definitely plan another Fly-and-Ride vacation, and we'll use the Ride Planner to find Best Western Hotels along the way. Even if you don't ride, the same tools would be great for a family car road trip.
If you ever get a chance to experience Glacier National Park on a perfect day, and that day also happens to be your birthday, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
