We've used BW travel gift cards a lot over the years. Since we travel quite a bit in North America we find them very helpful. If everyone bought us BW gift cards we'd be happy.

We took our granddaughter to Niagara Falls Best Western a few weeks ago and she said it was the best trip she has ever been on. She met a great friend in the fantastic pool. We aren't able to splurge on her very often and we would love to do more but seniors with limited funds.

The best travel gifts I can imagine are: good travel companions, a comfortable and safe vehicle, a road less-traveled, and an excellent book that can be read aloud from time-to-time. Yes, I think the journey is as important as the destination, but a comfortable bed and welcoming staff at a clean, smoke-free hotel are tops in my book!! A Kindle, or Barnes & Noble, or other type of "Reader" for those times when you are waiting at the airport, train station, etc., or when travelling and the times are boring (like an overseas flight).

You could read a favorite book, or a magazine, etc. that you subscibe to that is uploaded onto your "reader". They are thin enough and have hardley any weight so it could easily fit into any carry-on luggage, a backpack, large purse, etc. and they are not as heavy or clumbersome as a laptop or notebook computer.

My husband gave me a set of luggage for our first anniversary, 20 years ago. That luggage has been many, many places. Now the wheels stick, the zipper is very hard to zip and the handle is falling apart!

As a child I was in England under unfortunate circumstances over 30 years ago when I flew in from a developing nation and was ill with dysentery. I would love to spend a long weekend at BW Icicle Inn at Leavenworth, WA one of the suites. I have chronic pain and the hot tubs are to die for it just melts all of my pain and troubles away. Plus the little german town is fun and the food is great.

A gps would be great for finding our way when we travel. Rental car companies charge about $10 a day to rent one.

I'd like to work four weeks and have the rest of the year as vacation, but if I had to rely on one thing, I would say it would have to be a Samsung Galaxy S phone, not only because I would be able to phone ahead, but GPS is handy and games for my 10 year old.

What is MOST important? Well, the first thing you do when traveling, is get on the plane. So, I either take along shoes I can easily kick off, or bring those little scrunchy elastic hospital things that stretch over your feet (then pack the good shoes). Next, a few snack bars - as long as they don’t have any foil in the wrappers. Follow those with a good paperback book. So, now we’re on the plane. Wohoo. Upon arrival, if you actually get to your actual destination, maybe you should have a $250 gift card in hand, one of those major names, you know - just in case. You never know when you might have to spend a night or three in a flophouse hotel that’s next to a field of cows...I surely did. And on top of that, it was snowing, and all of the restaurants were closed. Another thing I usually bring is a little, yet bright, flashlight. If you’ve ever been somewhere when the lights have cut out - you’d have paid good money for one. And, of course, I never go anywhere without my iPhone and it’s charger.

A friend of mine just found out her 6-year old son has cancer. The treatments are done in a hospital 6 hours away and are on going until at least March. So I bought a $100 Best Western Gift Card and a $50 gas card (all I could afford) for them to help with travel expenses.

Personally, I am tired of shopping to find gifts for everyone that are purely useless. This Christmas, our family all decided to only buy consumable and useable gifts. We have bought Gift Cards. The most practical Travel gift and one of my favourite gifts of all are Travel Cards from Best Western. I purchased a lot of these and I will be giving them out as presents. I also bought my kids Gift Cards at Grocery stores, we bought coffee cards and food cards at various restaurants. As my husband and I travel a lot in the summer on our motorcycles, gift cards to restaurants are so very useful. We have fun with the wrapping of the cards, different size boxes so they are undetectible, search and find all over the house. I am only hoping that we will get BW Travel cards because we always can use them. We always stay at Best Westerns and only stay elsewhere if there are no BW's in the vicinity.

I think the best Holiday or Anytime travel gift is a Best Western gift card! We travel to Oregon two or more times a year to see family and we stay at Best Western on the way. Being retired, the gift cards help with the expense of traveling.

I would love a new set of luggage. I am the only person my family and friends know who has a "big suitcase" so they've all borrowed it again and again until the zipper broke, it ripped on the corner, it just looks worse for the wear. I've only used it three times...lol. I am going to be traveling more often now and I would like a new set of luggage for me! I love to travel, but have limited funds, and so an ideal gift would be a Best Western Travel card. I would love to go to Hawaii and one of my favourite spots is The Best Western Coconut Plaza in Waikiki. Would love to return there as I haven't been able to go since 2005.

My vacation destination of choice is Turkey. My goal is to stay at every Best Western hotel in Turkey. So far I have stay at the Best Western Citadel Istanbul, Best Western President Istanbul and the Best Western Kahn Antalya. I think the best travel gift to give is a PSP honestly. its small so easy to travel with, can access the internet, watch movies, and play games. His wife did and she is here now for a few months before she has to go back home. A travel converter for my mother's bi-pap machine would make our next trip to Mayo Clinic a little more comfortable for my mom. My 67 year old mother, Sandra, was diagnosed with ALS this past March. Our family has been forever changed. I try to find the little things that will make her life more comfortable so she can have some quality of life. She uses her bi-pap machine daily, so a travel converter would be an excellent travel gift for her. If you read this and believe in prayer, please pray for my mom. I hope she will be strong enough in 3.5 weeks to make the trip to Mayo Clinic for the next ALS Clinic. A converter might make this happen. She is the best mom! Merry Christmas to all!

Since the worst part of traveling is the traveling part, I think an Ipad would be a fabulous gift to alleviate the tedium as it would cover all entertainment and communication needs on the road. As far as comfort goes, lets have a round of applause for noise cancelling headphones, quality neck pillows, and wheeled carryons that don't tip over and have a pocket for your ziploced liquids handy. I gave my wife a GPS for Christmas. A must have to find her way there and back.

Since I travel to new places everytime I perform audits for work I often have to use on-line map searches. My ideal gift would be a Garmin or Tom-Tom navigator. This I received for Christmas but the really neat thing is my wife programed all the Best Westerns Hotel I stay in Washington State. I only need to plug in the address where I need to go and after work hit the Best Western Hotel that my reservations are at to get me home for the night.

My idea of a great holiday gift would be a two day at any best western hotel with rental car packages and a tour of the local area hot spots. All you need to do is just relax and enjoy!

I would like to have a bicycle trainer so I can ride/workout with my bike indoors all winter and be ready for some great mountain rides when the snow melts.

The Best Travel gift is travel. My husband and I forgo traditional gifts for Christmas and other special days. Our gift to each other is selecting 3 to 4 weeks of great adventure travel. (It may soun like alot of time and money, but just think about how much money is spent on gifts we never use). The best travel gift any time of year, is seeing family you don't get to see very often. It's been over 5 years since my gal's seen any of her family so a trip to Hawaii, California or Texas would be nice. I would like to be able to take her to any one of these places. Until then pictures, e-mails, letters and quite fishing trips together to a not so well known lake will have to do.

The perfect gift is a gift certificate to the Best Western Resort Hotel in Palm Desert, CA. Then I could have my family all together for a fun time. If you can't have fun in Palm Desert, you can't have fun anywhere. So much to do, and the hotel is located close to everything.

I asked for and received a book light that attaches to my book so I can read without a lamp or overhead light. Great for traveling at night, especially in the car!

I stay in a hotel 90-120 per year for work, and another 14-21 for pleasure. My travel schedule is quite hectic, so I consider myself a bit of an expert when it comes to travel planning -- particularly travel packing. I haven't checked a bag in years, even though most of my trips are 3+ weeks, and I have plenty of work items that I need to carry.

For technology:
-Netbook (when travelling for business or pleasure). In and out of your bag with ease for Airport Security screening.
-Ipad (for strictly personal travel). A long battery life makes it great for watching movies. Wireless access makes it great to check the occasional email, or get directions.
-GPS ANd make sure the maps are updated prior to your trip! I can't tell you how many wild goose chases and outdated GPS can take you on. Businesses close; new roads get built -- you need updated maps!

For practicality:
-Prepare a completely separate toiletry bag for travel only. Stock it with the necessities. That way, when there is an amazing hotel deal or seat sale, you can just grab the bag and go. Reversely, when you return home from your trip, you don't have to unpack right away because your toothbrush is still in the bathroom waiting for you. So my ideal travel gift would be a 3 ounce version of all of my toiletry necessities!

If you can't afford any expensive gadgits, books are very helpful way to pass the time. Though people are right about the ipad or laptop. You can do more than just read. We usually just bring our laptop, then we can research our trip, play games, & google map areas we want to familiarize ourselves with, & bookmark coupons & deals we can utilize. If I find a coupon I just print it off when we get to the hotel. We have also found from past experiences that a GPS also comes in very handy when driving around your vacation destinations. Either items make great travel gifts.

The best travel gift was one my husband gave me - it was a Nintendo DS. The games and puzzles help to distract me when we fly anywhere. The DS is small and easy to carry in my purse. I LOVE it.

One of the greatest travel gifts I could give this holiday season would be a California State Parks pass. There are so many beautiful parks in the United States, and California alone has over 200! No matter what part of the state you are in there is sure to be a park nearby, and my family and I make sure to visit a park every time we take a trip.
