One of my goals for this year is a 3 month road trip within the United States broken into different stages: California, southwest, and Florida. Nothing beats a road trip with your family exploring the coastline, towns, and National Parks - Craig :)

Last year I wanted to go to New Orleans. I kept looking at flight prices and one dropped to a good deal, but I hesitated and didn't buy and suddenly the price had gone over my budget. My student budget can only afford so much, but this year I'm determined to make it to New Orleans. Whether by plane, bus, train, boat or my own two feet I'll get there.

Last year I wanted to go to Russia, but I forgot the check visa requirements (rookie error - what an idiot!) and didn't have enough time to get my papers and pay for the visa so I could not go.

My travel regret for 2011, is that I did not take more days off and enjoy vacation. My 2012 resolution is to take time for myself and travel more often. I am going to visit Georgia for the first time in April for business and I plan on taking an extra few days to take it all in!

I would love to travel to London, England. I went about five years ago with my parents and absolutely loved the city and all its culture.
Luckily, I am now in a relationship with a resident Londoner, and I cannot wait to travel the city with her and have her show me London from a Londoner's point of view! I'm planning on traveling there this coming August.

I hope to go to either Rome or Maui this year. I went to Rome back in 2004 & loved everything about it ... the culture ... Night life...etc. Last year I went to Honolulu and it was absolutely splendid. Therefore, I'd like to explore the other Hawaiian islands. Hopefully, I can put Maui in my bucket list. Of course, I'd prefer to stay at a Best Western at either destination.

Resolution in 2012 is to travel more. Would love to go to Europe staying in Best Western hotels. I have read reviews of several of the Best Western hotels there that sound wonderful.

Would also love to go up to the North Shore of Lake Superior and stay in the Best Western in Grand Marais. I've read great reviews for this hotel, also.

Really, I'm just happy traveling - locally or far away. I did quite a bit of travel last year but I do regret not picking up and going even more often!

I really wanted to take my kids to Oregon to see my sister, then down to Disneyland in 2011. Unfortunately, our home was flooded in May 2011 and so our plans had to wait. We are hoping to be able to make the trip in 2012, if we can save up the money.

I was looking forward to returning to the beautiful Best Western Pismo Beach in 2011...We stayed there in 2010 and were so impressed, we planned to make it an annual event when we made our yearly visit to California to see relatives...Unfortunately, we had too many obligations last year. I hope to take the family once again this year.

Ten years ago, a dear friend who used to live in Philadelphia, moved back to the town where she was born in Indiana for family reasons. Another friend and I are planning to drive up to see her for her 65th birthday in May. She doesn't know this yet - but we've already booked our stay at Best Western in Elkhart and plan to take in several of the area's festivities - Memorial Day opening of the Amish Quilt Garden and the famous Farmer's Market and Auction at Shipshewana. After all these years, the 3 of us being together again will be the very best present and a wonderful trip.

Well I have lived in 5 or 6 countries and worked and vacationed in close to 30 countries. I live in Los Angeles, and guess what, I have NEVER BEEN TO THE GRAND CANYON. So my wish for 2012 is to take a classic road trip, in my beater little PT Cruiser to the Grand Canyon. I plan to stop at Taco Bell along the way and when I get there would like to watch the sunset and drink a cold beer. Then I can check in to the comfy room at Best Western :-)

Thid year, I will travel alone for the first time in my life. I will also do it completely spur of the moment instead of having an itinerary for everything. The rough plan is to enjoy the DC area and head down there by car from Canada. Time to leave my kids and husband at home for once and find myself again.

I didn't coin the phrase 'I AM CANADIAN', but rejoice in that fact that I am. Have visited many provinces and remember dipping my toes in the Atlantic Ocean. In 2012, to establish a new memory with my 8 year old son, a vacation to Nova Scotia would be ideal. Nightly we envision a trip there. To have lobster, go clam digging, fishing, breathe the salt ocean air and with footprints in the sand, dip our toes in the ocean surf, a lifetime memory to cherish.

My travel resolution is to make a strict budget to adhere to when I go on my trip so I will not overspend!

By andrea on January 7, 2012 5:53 AM

We don't get the opportunity to travel much, due to budget restrictions. At my hubby's Christmas 2010 work party, we were extremely lucky to win a travel voucher. Our vacation in April 2011 (which was kind of our honeymoon, except it was on our 4th anniversary) was great!, but I regret the fact that we didn't choose a family trip and bring our 3 yr old. My 2012 travel resolution is to somehow get our now 4 yr old daughter to a beach, as she really wants to go to one! Winning would make that much easier :)

My husband and I moved to the Twin Cities two Augusts ago and we said to ourselves that we want to visit as many places we can up north before moving on to our next place. With times being hard we are only able to go on one or two trips a year. This summer we want to travel to Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, stay in Rapid City and swing over to the Badlands. It will be a great trip once we figure out all the details. Winning would make this trip a lot easier on the pocketbook! Thanks for doing this giveaway! :-D

My biggest travel regret of 2011 was not going to the Calgary stampede. This has always been a dream of mine and I live in Ontario so I was planning to drive. Well things came up and we were unable to go. This year we are going no matter what! I all ready have our stampede tickets in my filing cabinet. The hotel rooms are booked and we are really looking forward to it. This gift card would help us out so much because as coincidence has it we are booked in at the Best Western in Calgary! Then we are heading to Edmonton and I am booked into a Best Western there as well for 2 nights. Sure looking forward to visiting the west!

My biggest regret was not going to Oakland over Thanksgiving to see my sister! My parents live in Seattle and I live in Connecticut, but she lives with her husband in Oakland. Unfortunately, they both had to work over thanksgiving and christmas, so even though I went to Seattle to see my parents for both holidays, I didn't get to see my sister. I should have gone to Oakland instead for thanksgiving!

My wife & I stayed at Best Western in White Bear Lake, MN back in September. It was a very nice room with a fireplace & dinning area. They even left little rubber duckies for us on the towels by the sink & hot tub in the room! I had the room reserved a month in advance, but still didn't get it for more than 1 night, so we stayed the in Minneapolis & Wisconsin & Iowa the rest of our vacation seeing other areas. If I had booked the room earlier, we possibly could have stayed in White Bear Lake longer, but it was obviously a popular place to stay last September.

In 2012, it would be nice to visit Washington state with my wife. I'll be saving up points to use on the trip, so we'll possibly be flying or riding Amtrak with Best Western rewards when we go. Staying in so many hotels for work means staying for free on vacation.

We went there about 4 years ago and it is a great place set on the beautiful Ohio River. This time I want to take a cruise on the Ohio River, go to the Cincinatti Zoo, their children's museum in the old railway terminal, and since my kids love rides we have to return to King's Island.

My travel regret for 2011 was my arrival in Sorrento, Italy.

I left Rome early in the morning, and two trains later I arrive in Sorrento, where I have already booked a hotel for the stay. Walk down the Corso Italia and arrive at my hotel. Front desk is expecting me. Then I discover my passport is gone.

Many phone calls later, my stay in Sorrento, and trips to Capri and Pompeii are gone. I leave at six AM the next morning to return to Rome and get a new passport.

Spent the final three days of my vacation at a beach hotel in Fiumicino.

Last year I stepped out on faith & came to New York for a 3 month internship but due to finances was unable to see the city. Imagine everyday for 3 mons being in a magical city like NYC and never getting to take it in due to having to run & catch my train to return to NJ where I was staying. I have moved to NJ with family and would love to have a weekend in NYC to explore. The past year has been stressful and full of hardships but a weekend to relax and take in the new year would be a blessing. I have sacrificed so much to achieve my dream I find I no longer know what luxuries of life are at the age of 25. I know life is too short & I am losing valuable years. So I am setting a goal for a weekend in NYC for R & R, sightseeing, picture taking, and people watching.

We love to ride our motorcycles but didn't get a lot of chances last year due to my husband's knee replacement surgery in May 2011. We were planning on going to Door County, Wisconsin last July but couldn't due to his recovery. That is now our plan this year. Hoping to find a Best Western up there to stay in there.

Our resolution trip for 2012 is to take 4 weeks and travel the US from Canada. We drove to San Fransisco, Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Twin Falls, Page, Cle Elum etc in 2010. It has been our dream to do it again but spend more than 13 days in 7 states as we did in 2010. We would love to relive our first trip but stay longer and see more :) Our trip in 2010 was solely staying Best Western Hotels-the only way we stay!

Unfortunately, my mother has since passed away, but I would love to return to Portugal and visit the places her and I did. It truly was a real mother/daughter vacation and I would just love to go back and share it with my husband. We created many wonderful memories there and it is those memories I would love to revisit one day.

In 2011 my husband Jack & I finally traveled to Praire du Chein in our beautiful state of Wi. We stayed at the Best Western there and have ONLY positive remarks- so very accomidating. Our regret? that we waited so long. After 34 years of owning a cottage in our northern part of the state we decided to venture and see what Wis. all has to offer. Note, we are both with handicap health so to find your facilities so kind and helpful meant so much. Now in 2012- we are traveling to Florida for a couple of weeks and have booked stays with Best Western. We Thank You and Happy New Year

I wish we could have gone to New England and taken our daughter in 2011. We spent a week at Roadhouse Inn in Boston in 2009 and then spent a night in each New England state over the week that followed. So sorry that our daughter was unavailable to come with us.

To the Beach - any beach to hear the ocean sounds, to walk in the sand and have the waves cover your feet as you walk along looking for treasures. To smell the salty air and feel the peace that being at the beach can bring.

I would love to take my kids on a nice family vacation to anywhere... before they all move out of my house. We go camping every year they love it, but going someplace HOT would be very nice since for the last few years it rained soo much on us while we were camping. My oldest son just joined the Army, so soon they will all be on their own... so a trip such as this would be an AWESOME memory :) ty

    My travel resolutions for 2012:
    1. Don't visit the same place twice. I seemed to have developed a habit...I go away, I love the place and it's become a travel 'comfort zone' so to speak, I go back. I've done that about 5 times. This year I resolve to step out of my comfort zone (which I do with east first visit anyway) and experience a different place each vacation.

    2. As I take two vacations a year (being a lover of hot, and I do mean hot!) destinations I resolve to take one tropical vacation a year and the other elsewhere without consideration for weather. I spent 10 days in Italy in the fall only because my best friend begged me to. I wouldn't have chosen it myself, now I'm extremely happy I went.

We travelled to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island this year. Such beautiful scenery. I wish I had had more time to go on to Newfoundland and Labrador as I imagine they are equally as beautiful. This year 2012, we are going to visit Texas. Except for El Paso and the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, we have not really seen much of Texas. We will have 9 or 10 days so I hope to see a lot. I want to see scenic areas where there are mountains or at least hills and also see some of the Gulf Coast.

I regret not having taken my mother up to New Jersey and Pennsylvania to visit with her family one last time in 2011. She recently died so it's not something that I can fix but it serves as a reminder that life is often shorter than we think and sometimes there isn't the opportunity to "get around to it" some day.

I just sent my eldest son off to college so alot of extra funds that come available end up being used for college purposes and trips with my daughter get pushed aside like the trip i planned to go on with her next month (Feb.2012) got cancelled due to my son breaking his hand...please pick me, Thank you!

I love going on vacation and really wanted to go to Seaworld and Busch Gardens in Orlando and Tampa. I did all the research, got my 4 year old daughter all excited and then circumstances made the trip totally unaffordable. Now 2012: I turn 40 in 3 days and am celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in June and we've just had my car die and been told I have to pay double income taxation in 2 countries! My trip away for my 40th was cancelled and I doubt we are going anywhere this year. I feel the need to go on vacation to get away from the stress of daily life and to have some fun! Right now more than ever I could use a vacation!

I just send my eldest son of to college and what little funds that come available end up being used for my son and trips with my daughter get put off just like the trip I planned to attend next month (Feb 2012), due to my son breaking his hand I can no longer afford both expenses.

regret: taking my 8yr old and 3 yr old on a 3000 mi road trip. The trip was so awful, with my 3yr old crying, my husband freaking out and my 8 yr old sick, it overshadowed the entire vacation.

I plan on meeting my sister in Cocoa Beach FL this Memorial Day weekend and stay at the Best Western Ocean Front Beach Resort. This will be the 20th year my sis & I have spent a "sister weekend" at the Best Western sampling all of the various room types - this year direct ocean front in the Towers.

By Barbara McLellan on January 9, 2012 6:26 AM

After many trips from Southern to Northern California to visit family in 2011, I came to regret that I did not stop along the way and stay for more than a night of rest before moving on. A few days ago (2012) we were headed North and stayed in Arroyo Grande CA at a beautiful Best Western. We stayed 2 nights and explored from Pismo Beach to the wineries just a short drive inland. The village of Arroyo Grande is quaint, but sadly even 2 nights was not long enough. I filled several lines of notes on my iPhone with other points of interest within a 40 mile radius. This will be a permanent "via" point on our GPS for 2012 and beyond. I have already told my sisters, who live scattered across the US to start planning our next gathering there. As a reminder...If you are traveling with your pets, be sure to call ahead.. pet friendly rooms are limited.

We have not taken a family vacation in years, just never enough money. I told my husband that this year we need to cut back on spending & try to save to take the family out west. Before we know it, the kids will be grown up & gone and this opportunity will have been lost. We have talked about seeing the Grand Canyon, my oldest wants to do the sky walk (not sure I am brave enough for that).

I traveled to Niagara Falls this past summer (2011) to visit family as that is where most of my family resides. After recovering from side effects of a previous cancer treatment and then a workplace injury, I was not doing much for several years never mind traveling. I finally improved enough to travel and off I went with great plans to see all of the family I had not seen in years. As it turned out, I ended up forgetting one of my very important medications and subsequently became ill and had to return home. I was not able to see my own mother who unfortunately ended up in a nursing home shortly after I returned home and I was not able to see her. I also had great plans to see my granddaughter but had to leave before I had a chance to see her as well. It just broke my heart that I did not have the chance to see either of them, so I am hoping that the summer of 2012 it will all work out better.

In June maybe we will have to just make up a reason, but we already know where to stay!

My big travel regret in 2011 was booking our dream vacation (a cruise) in August, just because it was so much cheaper. The day we left for The Bahamas on the cruise ship, we were in the eye of Hurricane Irene. It was a horribly rough sail and I spent the whole first night vommitting. The rest of the trip was then spent on the ship because The Bahamas had been so badly battered and all of the excursions were cancelled. For 2012, I think that I'll stay within driving distance for vacation, because you get what you pay for.

    By Patti J. on January 9, 2012 8:04 AM

Economy hit soooo hard we couldn't even afford to travel in our own state. There is so much to see and we wouldn't have to travel far. Sometimes the weekend get aways are just as nice as the week vacations, they break up the "what do we do and where do we go". This would be such a nice treat after all the struggling we've been through.

Due to an illness in 2011, my usual trips to Lake City,Florida were cut short. We make numerous trips to the area every year, staying at the Best Western, of course. I'm having some surgery in a few weeks so, in 2012, I plan on resuming my frequent stays in that area and staying at The Best Western of Lake City. The owner, front desk staff and Housekeeping Staff there are all great helpful and lovely people. Can't wait for my next "healthy" visit in the spring!

My travel regret...we went on a family trip out east, Niagara Falls, New York, Boston and Sandusky Ohio. This was our big family trip. Coming back home to Wisconsin, MY part of the trip was to stop in Frankenmuth Michigan and go to Bronner's Christmas Wonderland. Now, I had been on a 2 1/2 week trip with four kids in a vehicle, I wanted my christmas store, but, it was not to be. We pulled into Frankenmuth, saw all of the cute little shops in the downtown area and then we were on our way to Bronner's. I was so excited. I walked into Bronner's and there was a torrential downpour starting outside. It was bad. We couldn't see the parking lot. The power went out. Here we are with a few hundred other people in a blacked out store and our four kids, (who thought it was the coolest thing in the world). I got to see nothing of the christmas store, not one ornament or display. For the first time in Bronner history, they closed the store due to no power. I was completely disappointed. I would love to go back and visit since my first experience didn't pan out for me at all.

My biggest travel regret of 2011 is that I didn't get to go anywhere. I got married in February of 2011 and for my "honeymoon" stayed 30 minutes away from where I live! And honestly that was the furthest I ever got away from home. This year I would love to actually take a vacation or two and be able to get away for some very much need R&R with my Husband!

In 2009 we travelled to La Quinta, CA and in 2010 we travelled to Scottsdale, AZ. We drove both times. Before we had set out to travel, we made reservations with BW for the nights that we had to rest. BW by far has the best accomodations, as we have two westie's dogs. We were unable to travel in 2011. So this year 2012 we will be travelling to Florida. We are looking forward to making reservations with BW for our rest nights. Thank you, Best Western for a restfull stay.

So now I am 70 I am spending quicker and travelling more but I regret waiting so long. So if you can do it do it now is my advice.

I regret that I had to turn down a chance to attend The Masters Golf Tournament 2012. It was an opportunity of a lifetime and a birthday gift for my husband, but the expense of the travel made it out of reach. We were also looking forward to visiting the Blues Clubs. My son is now playing club baseball at Cal State Fullerton.. The team has a national championship in Georgia this spring so maybe it was meant to be, for us to go there for that, instead of The Masters. My husband's oldest sister also lives in Georgia and we are from California. He rarely gets to see her. California Dreamin' for the opportunity to surprise him with the trip. If not to Georgia to New Orleans for a tour the historic Blues clubs.

My travel regret.... I used the Best Western Inn at the Vines in Napa, CA. I wished I had never used them. My house had caught fire so I decided to have a small Christmas party at the hotel with food, drinks, and decorations. I told any guests to be quiet when they arrived at the hotel so we wouldnt disturb any guests. I rented their two story suite which is located at the end of one building and away from other rooms and near a Dennys entrance.
We had a nice quiet party going until about 9'oclock when we had a call from the "manager". She said this hotel does not allow parties. I was surprised. No family reunions, no graduation parties, no get togethers of any kind. I said I have stayed at BW and had never seen it written anywhere. She said I am telling you verbally. What an embarassing and distasterous party!
By 10'oclock my guests had left. Several out of town guests reserved rooms for the occasion. I rented two rooms, the suite and another room for an out of town couple. That couple was so disappointed with the hotel they decided not to stay and traveled back home that night. The other couple stayed but dont think they asked for a refund.
I was very disappointed. Most hotels have a rule that says guests must leave by 10. I checked my paperwork, the internet, the back of the door. Nothing about having guests. I wanted to leave the hotel that night since it was so disturbing to stay in that harsh environment. My friend said rest and stay overnight. Collect the Christmas goodies and decorations then go to the office and ask for a refund for the two rooms.
I did just that. In the morning I checked out about 11 and requested a refund. The lady said she would deny a refund but the manager Bridgett could authorize one when she came back six days later from vacation. It was about $270.00 for the two rooms. I told the receptionist that the hotel needs to advertize their rules. There is nothing in writing about NO PARTIES ALLOWED. I would never have used the hotel if I had known they were so hostile. The only reason the hotel noticed anything was the hotel security guy on a Thursday night saw several people going into one room. Not many hotel rooms were occupied so we stood out I guess. I am very disappountedin the treatment we recieved from Best Western.

I would really love the opportunity to get to Paris this year. My husband and I are planning to renew our vows there in 2013 for our 25th anniversary. We have a number of friends and family planning on coming over to join us. I would love to have the opportunity to go there to do the planning in person.

Last time we were in Paris we stayed at a Best Western. It was perfect. Clean, Well located, nice staff and a window with a french balcony that opened up on to la ville lumiere! Fantastique!

Looking forward to going back, winning the contest would make it even better! :)

Since I love traveling, my major regret is not being able to travel more period. But, specifically, I regret never getting to the United Kingdom. I have Rick Steves' travelogues and have read numerous books and watched many films about England, Scotland, Wales and Scotland. I have always wanted to visit there ever since I was a child and I am in my 60s now. Money for travel has always been the issue and now, since we are retired, it is even more of an issue. I regret that I may never visit these beautiful islands during my lifetime.

It would be nice to be able to stay over night since she will probably never get to come here again. We are small farmers on a limited income so this would be a wonderful gift. thank you.

To whom it may concern: If I were the marketing manager for Best Western I would set up a card for seniors that want to stay at Best Western on there travels through out the United States that would give them the same price for a room at every Best Western to elliminate the need to shop at several hotels to get the best rate. If I were able to spend a night with my wife and myself on our travels at $70.00 per night I would just find the closest Best Western in the area I ended up each night. No shopping around. Best Western Senior Frequent Flyer Plan.
Just a thought. David D. Dunham

We travel alot to the states and always stay at the best western as my grandaughter loves the morning breakfast and swimming in the pool. We always have a good time at the Best Western Hotels and never have a problem. We will be going to Lake Chelan in July and we have stayed there before and love the hotel right on the beach and the bbqs that the guests have access too, which make it fun to cook your own meals outside and still enjoy what the hotel has to offer. We would love to go to the caribbean some day but dont know when we will ever make it there.

Each year I try to have my kids visit at least one new location. Having an appreciation for the world and all it has to offer is very important for me to establish within my kids. One year they experienced their first flights to locations such as San Francisco and Scottsdale, AZ. Another year we drove to a friend's in upper state NY and also enjoyed Boston during summer break as well as NYC during the holidays. This coming year we are looking to travel to Washington, DC for the cherry blossoms as well as Quebec for Winterfest and whereever else our hearts (and pocketbooks) will take us!!!

Impulsively my wife and I left Fort McMurray, Alberta and drove to Edmonton, AB, Calgary, AB, Banff, AB, Creston, BC, then down into Idaho, the over to Washington, back to Idaho and finally Montana back to Alberta. Absolutely wonderful trip, our only regret is that we did not take the ferry from Seattle over to Vancouver. British Columbia is very beautiful, we really should have experienced the coast. We are both from Nova Scotia so the sea is always an enjoyable destination.

in 2010 I was married. We always put off our honeymoon. We settled on 2011 being the year that we went. But due to work and other things that come up when you have a new and arising family we once again put it on the back burner...I Told my husband that it didn't matter where we went ...as long as we are together. That will always hold true. But I would love to make it possible to get away and show him a good time. So my regret is that we never got to do it. But this year my resolution is that We would like to. I just think something nice out near the coast ...With a gift card like this we could drive to the coast.. get nice hotel room and spend the day on the beach... or get a nice hotel room near Niagra Falls.....We would love to be the winners of this contest so that we can finally have a honeymoon!!! PLEASE PICK US!!!

My travel regret from 2011 was relying on the Best Western book to plan by cross country trip! Fully 2 of the 4 nights I had planned, using that book, turned out to be a nightmare! Surprise ! No longer were they Best Western hotels! AND - how could it have been worse? - I went from one town, up to the next, 80 miles away, at night, only to find, yes....THAT one was no longer a Best Western either! Now a Red Lion, or something! Spent a HORRIBLE SLEEPLESS night in Grants, NM between Route 66 and a railroad track at a with HOURLY ALL NIGHT TRAINS! Joined best Western b/c AAA recommended and it was the best price. Well, I guess you get what you pay for. BOOOO

I planned to go to San Francisco during September last year. I really really wanted to go to the Chocolate Festival there. I love chocolate. In the end, I couldn't go because there were no room available. I regret about it a lot. I wish I knew about the festival early, so I could book a place to stay. I hope I can go this year.

We love to travel at any time of the year. We went in cruise last fall in Europe and it was so wundrerfull. We plan to go at Ste-Lucia this winter and we will relax. We are thinking to spend time in USA next summer and we look for a trip for a week next winter. We love to visit a different place every time.

Would love to take my parents to their ancestral home in Ireland. Would love for them to see their families one last time while they are still able. They have many grand and great-grandchildren they have never met and have not been able to travel for various reasons for many years, and have not been home since 1977. Their (and my) lives would be complete knowing they could bid farewell in person to their families, and I owe them more than I could ever repay.

My travel regret for 2011 was inadvertently setting my meal preference to "seafood meal" prior to traveling from Houston to Jakarta. From Houston to Moscow and Moscow to Singapore and Singapore to Jakarta, at EVERY meal, the flight attendant would come by and say in an Oriental accent "Ah, Mr. B, here is your seafood meal!" I tried numerous times to explain that there had been a mistake but they would just smile and place the meal on my tray. Every meal was fish! On my final leg I finally convinced the attendant to bring me a steak! She then informed me that if I had gone to the airline website and selected "seafood meal" I could have selected lobster, shrimp, clams, or whatever I wanted. Thanks for telling me! This year I will make sure I don't select "seafood meal" on my flight to Malaysia in March!

There are so many places I would love to see but I would like to see Hawaii. My husband was sent TDY there right after we were married almost 33 years ago. I teased him about going there for his honeymoon and he told me that one day we would go. I think I am ready for it now. :)

My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary on Sept 8th, 2011. We were on our honeymoon when 9/11 happened. So naturally we cut it short, to be with our families. We had always planned a spectacular 10 year anniversary. But my husband had lost his job earlier in the year. With not enough time to recover, before our anniversary. We decided we'd celebrate this year, 2012. He started a new job in March 2011, so he gets vacation in two months. We are planning a road trip! Doesn't matter where or how far we get, we are headed west. What a fantastic contest and I hope that we win! This would be such a reward for waiting 10 years for the perfect honeymoon!

My travel back to inspect flood damage to our farm in North Dakota last September
required to and from bookings in various cities between Seattle and Minot ND.
I regret that I did not book Best Western in Missoula on the way to Minot. The lodging
I booked turned out to be sub standard. I cancelled the return booking for that property and re booked with Best Western in Missoula. I should have stuck with
B/W round trip for that city.

My biggest travel regret is rushing! I got the opportunity to visit both Nepal and Thailand, but only stayed for a few days each. I was so exhausted by the end of each night because I was rushing to see all the major attractions. This year, I want to take my time and see all the beautiful places I can slowly. You miss out on so much of the beauty around you when you rush.

The SUV is getting full but what fun it is there for all of us.

These friends live in Rhode Island and we live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.Well the very next day we decided not to cruise we got an internet offer " we couldn't refuse" -- a 15 night Royal Caribbean trans-atlantic cruise ending up in Rome. So to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary we will be heading south in March, visiting our friends in Cape Coral, Florida then cruising to Italy in April out of Fort Lauderdale. {of course we will be staying in Best Western Hotels 3 nights down and 3 nights back as we have since we started snow- birding }

My travel regret for 2011 was that we didn't take our two adult children with us on our trip up through Maine, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton this summer. Such breathtaking scenery, such wonderful food, such friendly and kind people! If we won the lottery, our dream would be to hire a limo and travel all over the lower 48 (staying in Best Westerns along the way, of course!) - hitting every single state along the way!

By BEC on January 9, 2012 10:54 PM

My biggest regret is that we were not able to take our two grown children with us this summer when we toured coastal Maine, USA and New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Cape Breton in eastern Canada. Such breathtaking scenery, such delectable food, such kind and friendly people! Our dream - if we were to win the lottery - would be to hire a limo and tour the entire lower 48 states (staying in Best Westerns along the way, of course!) stopping to savor all each state had to offer for as long as it takes!

I really wanted to tour around the Washington, DC area. I would have used Washington, DC or Arlington, VA as my base. I would have toured the museums and gone shopping at the various malls. I would have taken a day trip to a beach such as Sandy Point State Park and/or taken a ride out to the countryside such as Leesburg or Front Royal. But, the summer and fall came and went and I didn't get to do it. Thank you for running this sweepstakes. Good luck to all.

We went on a 10,000 mile road trip this past October 2011. Started in Washington state and went to 16 states and DC. It was wonderful and we only stayed at Best Western hotels the whole trip. I think we stayed 30 nights and every BW was great. In April 2012 we are flying to Alaska to see our son and will be driving back on the Al-Can highway in a car he no longer wants, again we will only be staying at BW hotels. Have used map quest to help us with the route and finding BW hotels. We have not stayed at any other hotel in the last 3 years.Next year 2013 we will be going to Hawaii and of vourse only will be staying at BW.

I would also love to visit my family, and my boyfriend's family that reside in Florida. Last December instead of making reservations using BestWestern.com's website we tried another site and ended up booking a room at the Deerfield Beach Confort Suites in Florida. That turned out to be a big mistake! The front desk personnel was very unhelpful, they should take lessons on how to treat the hotel guests from the Best Western just next to them! Also, the breakfast bar had plenty of frozen bagels, but NO TOASTER! And when we asked to speak to the "so called" manager, she sent us to have breakfast to the BEST WESTERN, which was a delightful experience. I guess it is correct to say "you learn from your mistakes" so my 2012 resolution is: from now on only BEST WESTERN will do!

Upset I didn't make Hawaii in 2012. Now 2012 date will have to be cancelled due to wife's hip re[lacement. Due to nmot taking insurance, my costs are not reimbursed, so I am really upset my wife and I missed our 2012 vacation and now will miss the 2012 planned and not get a refund.

But I did use my free Best Wetern for one night at Ocean Shores Washington. A great place, great staff, and the owls from the aric were there.

Regret of 2011...... not moving my hotel choices earlier and staying in more BWs versus other hotel properties in the year ... For 2012 plan to stay in more BWs and less other hotel chain properties... and building up my rewards points so I can use them with my kids for a fun road trip. My daughter is a Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives fan, and we did a fun trip last year hitting 17 places in one week, and we did a small one this year to visit 3 places as part of another travel plan.

I was going to stay at the Best Western Woodbury Inn and visit the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site last summer but wasn't able to make time for it. Later I happened to read that Sagamore Hill will be closed for renovations for the next two years! My resolution is when I have the idea to do something, just do it! I will probably still go stay at the Best Western Woodbury Inn and see some of the other sights in the area next summer.

If I could pick one dream trip in 2012, it would be to Budapest, a city with wildly romantic architecture, history that is both inspiring and tragic and wonderful people. There is also delicious food and music and dancing on almost every street. At least, this is what I see in my dreams, on travel shows and in carefully selected foreign movies.

2011 passed with memories of great road trips. Starting in Alabama, we made our way to New York via Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh, D.C., Philly and New Jersey. Another was to Chattanooga, Nashville, Mammoth Caves, Memphis and Gulf Shores. Those were the major trips and we also made several trips to New Orleans and Panama City Beach and Tallahassee. We will be moving to California in a few months and we already have plans to explore the west coast. Happy New Year!!!

My biggest regret on my last big trip was that I got trapped in the middle of the Christchurch earthquake Feb. 22, 2011, escaping with only the clothes on my back [no passport] and didn't get to continue on to Picton, Nelson and Wellington. Four days later when we were air lifted to Auckland I phoned home to tell everyone I was alive and safe only to find that my father had passed away.

I feel blessed to be alive after being in the Christchurch Cathedral Tower only 45 minutes before it collapsed. Still love traveling and the wonderful people of New Zealand who made sure we got to safety and where well taken care of until we could be evacuated.

No vacations for us in the last 2 years. In 2010, I hurt my back & then I was laid off a month later. In 2011, I broke my leg. I would very much like to look forward to a family vacation with our Grandkids in 2012. Maybe to Disney World or Royal Gorge or Grand Canyon. Best Western is almost everywere, so we would have choices all across America!

Taking the ultimate road trip for 12 days this spring, and staying at Best Westerns at every stop along the way. Savannah Georgia, Key West Florida, New Orleans Louisiana, Memphis Tennesee, St. Louis Missouri, Denver Colorado, Mammoth Hot Springs Wyoming, Seattle Washington, Sacramento California and San Diego California. I am taking my mother, who has always wanted to drive across the country, but her highlight will be to finally visit Graceland. I will be taking a one way flight from San Diego to move to Hawaii, and my mom and her boyfriend will be visiting friends along the way back home to PA. I have already logged 28 states plus DC, and with this trip will be getting very close to all 50. Thanks Best Western, for having great hotels (with free breakfasts) at all our destinations!

I always look forward to vacationing with my husband and 3 children but last year was the first time we were unable to plan a family trip. Unfortunately, it looks like 2012 will be the same. Although I understand the reasons why we need to give up traveling together and the added expense, it still doesn't keep my urge to watch for deals that pop up or enter wonderful giveaways like this one and hope for a different outcome!

In 2011, we only made a long weekend trip to the Big Bend area of Texas. Great trip, but we'd done that one before. The year before, however, we traveled all the way to Yellowstone National Park from Texas by car and spent time in the Black Hills on the way there. Then, we came back home via Colorado through the Rockies. We didn't have time to visit the Badlands on the way up. [sigh, so sad] Thus, another trip is warranted to see the Badlands. Yes!!!

I got sick the 2nd day into the trip, and spent most of the time in the hotel throwing up, so I missed most of the Texas visit, and 2 of the 3 days of New Orleans. My stomach was so upset that I couldn't enjoy ANY spicy, Cajun cuisine! WAHHH!!!! I want a redo!!!!!! I'll be getting married this year, and everyone always wants to travel to a warm, resort destination for their honeymoon. Although I'd love a trip to Hawaii, Jamaica, or other such places, there's two other areas I'd like to visit. One would be to revisit Austin, Texas. It's got the best laid back, half college town half booming city vibe. With the great food, the music, and all there is to see, I'd love to go back. The other region would be Oregon/Washington. My fiance and I have this weird obsession with Oregon (go Ducks!) and Washington. We've never been there, but we have this amazing idea of what it's like. So we'd love an opportunity to travel, whether it be to a resort destination, bring us back to Austin, or explore somewhere new like Oregon.

Vancouver! I just moved to Seattle this past August, and the by golly it is difficult to get to the land over yonder without a vehicle. I have been stalking ride-shares constantly without any luck. Why Vancouver in the winter you might ask? Easy--I am missing that white fluffy thing that all Seattle-lites dread, SNOW. Think about all the possibilities...snowshoeing, igloo building, snowball fights, snowangels, snowcones, snowbeards, hypothermia, snowboarding..etc. One other perk, I will finally be able to go to a NHL Game. Go Canucks! Bucket List Item #36

My family and I are crazy about Disney and love going to Orlando! Sadly, I fell which led to an abdominal wound and finally surgery so we had to not only forget any plans to Florida but we were going to at least go to Maine for a mini vacation! That too didn't work as I got an infection. So for 7 months I had weekly hospital visits and daily nurse visits and an eventual surgery! Hopefully recuperation will be done by April vacation and if not then we are off when school is out! The hope is for Disney/Orlando but Maine is also an option as well as a 3 or 4 day *inexpensive* cruise! At least that's the hope!

Last summer, was the first year I got enough time off of work, to take a sizeable trip on our motorcycle! We left our hometown of Oregon, headed to the very Southern tip of Florida. After dodging tornado's, rain and hot weather...we just entered Florida, and had to head back home. Not reaching our destination, but just enough to say wen to Florida! Hope to get a chance at that much time off of work again this summer and head to the East Coast...We'll see.

Last summer, I got an unheard of 3 weeks vacation! We decided this was the year to go from our hometown of Oregon to the Southern tip of Florida, on our motorcycle! After dodging such bad weather of tornado's, rain, and such hot weather, we hit the state of Florida, and ended up having to turn around and head for home in order to make it back home in time for work! Well, we CAN say we got to Florida, but that's about the extent of it. This Summer? Not sure what we will do.

This year I want to get to spend more quality time with my newly found sister in Indianapolis. I know it may not seem like much compared to others on here, but it is what is important to me. You have to take the time to make memories because you never know when that will be all you have. I want to make as many memories as possible! The Good Lord called one Sister home too soon but blessed me with another and I want to make the most of our time. Make the most of your time with your families.

I would like to go to eastern canada; an area I've never been. Specifically, Niagra Falls - for the falls, and the area around it. I'd like to travel on the boat that goes on the falls, and visit some of the historic sites. I'd also like to stay at a Best Western there. I like comparing the various Best Western Hotels and have found wonderfully soft beds, great service (even after a late flight), great prices, greater locations (close to tourist attractions and transportation), and good food. So the one thing I chose during a vacation in 2011 were Best Western Hotels, but I will definitely do so again in 2012. I'd also like to see my sister in Ottawa.

I'd like to travel to eastern Canada. Specifically Niagra Falls. The tourist advertisements attracted me, but I know people who have visited. I'd like to take the tour boat on the falls, and also see a few heritage sites. Ofcourse I would be staying at a Best Western Hotel, which I stayed at in 2011 as well. It will be easy to check the locations and amenities on the Best Western site. In 2011 I stayed in Vancouver and found my Best Western Hotel in Vancouver NW to have all I needed; including soft pillows, soft bed, great breakfast, greater location, and a terrific price. I could also take a side trip from there to see my sister in Ottawa.

2011 was a tough year as both my daughter and myself were sick most of the year between the two of us! With the timing we were never able to go on vacation at all with nurses coming daily for almost 7 months! So I have high hopes for 2012 to either take my great granddaughter to Maine to sea the ocean and go out on a lobster boat as well as some delicious lobster boils. A 3 or 4 day cruise would also be nice in addition to Maine or even 3 or 4 days to Disney Orlando! Anywhere from home with the family will be a wonderful getaway!

2012 is the beginning of a New Year. I will be retiring in March, so as a surprise to my 2 grandsons, I am taking them to Texas to visit family. It will be a long trip as I am the only driver, but I feel this experience will be very rewarding. I get time to spend with my grandsons, we get to visit family and Mom and Dad get a vacation of their own.

We wil be stopping 2 nights along the way, so of course they will be at Best Westerns Plus. I have stayed in the Best Western Plus in Allentown, Pennsylvania at least 10 times this year. That is why I will only stay at Best Western Plus.

Regrets for 2011 - not staying longer in Maui - 7 days is not enough time to enjoy all the great sites and things to do.
Resolutions 2012 - travel more to exotic places not just the touristy ones, but may include Bahamas, Fiji and New Zealand. Staying at Best Western hotels more often.

By Kathy on January 14, 2012 11:24 AM

My biggest travel regret occurred a few years back when I visited the San Francisco area several times on business, and did not take the opportunity to visit NAPA valley

2011 was a very busy year for our family. Growing twin children (with one who has Cerebral Palsy & Epilepsy).... can make being a single parent alot to manage. We didnt' travel as much as we wanted. We really wanted to hit Anaheim before year end... but due to my son's disabilities...and having to home school him now, we just couldn't make the almighty dollar stretch as far. ;( This coming year 2012... my daughter (the other twin) and I do plan to take him to Anaheim! We have worked hard to collect Air Miles... and we only redeem them on BW Hotels...because they are excellent and courteous towards those with special needs, really they are the best! For the past 12 years, we only use BW.... we've tried others and have only been disappointed with the lack of regard towards those in wheelchairs. I do have the most precious twins....and they do deserve to have a little fun..... afterall, they are only young for a little time ;)

Being a single parent of 12 yr old twins can sometimes be a challenge. More so, when one child has severe disabilities and the other loves to travel. I have been truly blessed with these two children. They love to see new things and explore theme parks. Our goal was to visit Anaheim in 2011. Due to some health challenges with my son, we were not able to go quite that far, but we did get in some camping, and a few stays in a BW Hotel. We are always treated so well when we stay. BW has the best courteous staff to help when you are travelling with a wheelchair! This year, we plan to reach our travel goal of visiting Anaheim! Not only do I feel a great sense of independence travelling with my children, but to see their smiling faces, their laughter, their appreciation of seeing something different, makes it all worthwhile. So, would we appreciate an added bonus from you? Yes we would!

Oh so many places to choose from, think I would like to go up the CA coast from maybe San Diego, have not done that in about 40 years. Maybe a stay in San Simeon area. USA travel is the best for this California native.

In 2011 I had really hoped to visit Charleston, South Carolina. I am fascinated by the concept of 'Southern Hospitality' and I admire the elegance, graciousness etc. of its rich history. I think a visit there would be a restorative delight to the soul. Unfortuately I never made the trip. I would LOVE to be able to make the visit in 2012!

I would like to travel anywhere, and right now, anywhere not associated with square dancing. Enough hotel reservations due to square dancing events. I would like to see more of the world, even see more of the USA. Been told havent really seen the USA until you see the Statue of Liberty, so that is on list, also Hersheys town, the big Coke Cola town, and anything inbetween. Also another trip to Hawaii would be nice, Japan, Ireland, Sweden, England, France. Heck anywhere.

My travel regret in 2011, is that I spent my "vacation" in a tent in my backyard for two days. In 2012, with a pending foreclosure and bankruptcy, all I can hope for is a weekend away with my husband. Our "dream vacation" is a week on the beach in the Carribean, ANYWHERE!!!

This winter we are going to take a trip to Kissimmee, Celebration, and then onto Siesta Key Beach in Florida. It is good to travel and get away from your daily schedules and commitments so you can look at your life in a broader spectrum and it is a good time to reflect.

My husband traveled for work from Washington State to Virginia in October of 2011 and I didn't go with him. BIG mistake! He called every night to say how I will have to get there with him another time to visit all the historical homes of our forefathers and to check out the antique stores and try different foods. He's not an emotional guy, but after 26 years of marriage, he cried on the phone when he said he couldn't enjoy all those visits without me. He would turn to comment on things and I wouldn't be there. Next time, I will go with him. I can enjoy the hotel room and spas while he's in his meetings and then go exploring with him after work!

I had been planning a Waterfall hunt across Michigan's UP for the past two years. Last year was the year I was going to go until I trusted who I thought was a friend to drive my vehicle the week before the big trip. Sadly to say she crash my truck and all funds for the trip went to repairing my vehicle. Biggest regret ever. Going to go this year. No stopping me. Truck all fixed and if I have to rough it in it because of funds I will. Excited to no end for this great adventure.

My travel reget was that I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in NewMarket, Ontario. My son was married in Kettleby and his bride booked our reservations. I only managed to get two hours of broken sleep. The noise from the other rooms was unbearable. I complained to management four times throughout the night and was told there wasn't much they could do about it. Next time I need a place to stay I'm booking a Best Western room myself.
