Indulge us for a moment and ponder and respond to the ultimate (though quite impossible) travel dilemma for our YMBT readers:

If faced with a travel choice you had to make, would you rather...

1) Visit your favorite vacation spot every year without fail, but never be able to travel to a different location

...or

2) Visit a new destination every year, but never be able to travel to the same place twice.

Vote for your choice by leaving a comment and responding with "1" or "2" to cast your vote. One voter will be selected to win a $250 Travel Card to help them visit their favorite spot or strike out on a new adventure. Contest ends July 31, 2010

I would rather travel to visit them than never be able to see them again. I don't need to be a world traveler to be happy

By Linda Manous on July 17, 2010 8:59 AM

I'd choose #1. I've done my share of travel and am old enough now to where I already tend to go to the same favorite places over and over. Just to know I'd be able to go "without fail" would be wonderful! (I had to cancel this year because at the tender age of 60 caught mono and was quite ill)

#2 FOR SURE!!! There are so many beautiful places in the world to experience (and thankfully there's always a Best Western close by to stay at). I would gladly give up the oppportunity to visit somewhere I've already been for the thrill of experiencing new adventures.

By Debra Oehlberg on July 17, 2010 12:07 PM

1 is my choice. Even though I see that a lot of people chose 2, if this was true in real life where they could not sneak back to their favorite destination ever, I bet they would never choose that. Going to the same spot over and over is how you build new memories and talk about old ones.

By caroline ohare on July 17, 2010 12:30 PM

2--I LOVE seeing new places. Even tho some are not the most interesting spots, others are "hidden treasures".

    By Judith M on July 28, 2010 12:07 PM

#2, as the old saying goes: Roses are red, the grass is green, there's lots of places I ain't seen. And as time grows shorter, I want to make the most of it and fill in as many blanks as I can while I can still walk around.

I would choose option 2 because its lots of fun to check out new places!

By Bob Weiser on July 28, 2010 12:22 PM

2 - having been in 5 of the 7 Continents: 46 of 50 US States, 6 countries of South America, 8 European nations, 6 Canadian Provinces, Australia, Vietnam, 12-18 Caribbean Islands, multiple cities in Mexico.
Yet, there is so much more to see ... other countries, other cities in those already visited ...

By Sheila on July 28, 2010 12:23 PM

I choose # 2. Going to the same place over and over is like eating a tuna sandwich for every meal. Boring. There's so much to see and do in this wonderful world, and only a lifetime to do it!

By Michelle on July 28, 2010 12:25 PM

2 !!! Absolutely- hands down. The world is far too exciting to be stranded in one place with only one set of memories. Get out your passport and GO~

    Definitely 2!

By Christie on July 28, 2010 12:28 PM

1 because it's perfect, but then we mix it up with weekend getaways to other places and other adventures. It makes us so appreciate what we have at our annual destination. It's paradise and unbeatable!!!

By dave on July 28, 2010 2:12 PM

    This is a no brainer.
#2 is the obvious answer for me. I would much rather see and do something new every year than do the same thing over and over and over... Variety is the spice of life. There is so much out there to experience and so little time.

By Gretchen on July 28, 2010 2:18 PM

My vote would be for #1. The other option would get downright depressing after awhile - like a lifetime of "one night stands" with no possibility for true love! :-)

I have enjoyed so many places and said I'll go back every year lol. It always turns out the same, I go to a different palce each year. Even though the weather hasn't always been up to par, the golfing is ! I'll have to go with "2" and keep seeing the world.

By Bryna Weiss on July 28, 2010 3:17 PM

Oh definately #1! Going to your favorite spot repeatedly means you establish friends most of whom will also be there every year. It also means discovering new things each year in places near your favorite spot. It's like reading a good book over and over or seeing a wonderful film again and again- you are constantly discovering new things about the story or the film. In addition, no one says you can't take a completely separate trip, at another time, to new places.

By Patti on July 28, 2010 3:34 PM

Travel a new spot for every vacation! Life is too short to stay in one spot, if you picked staying at the same location every year without fail, you would miss out on your next 500 favorite places! Smell the roses at every stop, it makes life way more interesting...

By Kim on July 28, 2010 3:36 PM

Well, I do like my amusement parks so "1" could work for me, however I think "2" would best suit the rest of my family.

By Jean on July 28, 2010 3:43 PM

I think I have ADD. Or maybe it's just that when I visit a place, I do it RIGHT and learn enough to discuss the place adequately. THEN, I get to go somewhere else and learn about another place, and culture. Here's to variety and the spice of life...

By Mary K. Moore on July 28, 2010 4:12 PM

Number 2 would be my choice. Though it would be hard not going back to my hometown to visit relatives, but my relatives and I can always "meet up" at every Best Western Resort area for a "family gathering" and do some sightseeing throughout USA! God Bless America!

Since my favorite place to travel is my intended spot to live in for the rest of my life, I pick 2:Visit a new destination every year, but never be able to travel to the same place twice

This is a big wide wonderful world and as much as I have enjoyed returning to places for a second and sometimes thrid time, the lure of the remainder of the world is immense. Every day another destination seductively whispers to me to come and to see, taste and feel its beauty, culture, sites sounds and tastes.

By Joy Masana on July 29, 2010 10:18 AM

Number two .....We love road trips and have been to twenty one states and visited sixteen National Parks in the last three years. I have also been to four European countries and want to see more. Since my favorite place to travel is my intended destination to live in for the rest of my life, I pick 2: Visit a new destination every year, but never be able to travel to the same pla...ce twice

This is a big wide wonderful world and as much as I have enjoyed returning to places for a second and sometimes thrid time, the lure of the remainder of the world is immense. Every day another destination seductively whispers to me to come and to see, taste and feel its beauty, culture, sites sounds and tastes. See More

I choose 2. I find myself entering a new phase in my life. My husband is in hospice, in the end stage of renal failure. When, we were able to travel, we always went to the same place. I am seeking new adventure, the opportunity to travel and make new memories. As a woman, traveling alone, I know I can trust any Best Western location, I might visit.

1 - There's nothing like returning to the same place - guaranteed to be great - but you will always find something new to do as long as you look for it. That way you get the best of both worlds. Why fix what aint broke and why spend your whole life looking for something you already have :-)

I was able to have a fabulous trip to Germany last year so this year I would love to spend a few days in New York. It's been many years since I was there for work. This time I'd Love to just explore and experience all that city offers-or as much as I can
