I'm a girl on the go. I'm a working mom who isn't afraid to travel with my kids and bring them along on business trips. Sometimes I get away with just my husband or girlfriends. In my blog, I share my travel experiences--the good and the bad--and invite you to share yours.

My travel philosophy is: If it's not in the guidebook, then let's go there! Don't get me wrong, I love the popular sites just as much as the next person, but it's the funky little places I find in my travels that interests me most. An old, haunted cemetery on the east coast, an offbeat jazz club in San Francisco, an old run down record store in Seattle, an eatery that serves sandwiches out of nothing more than a window cut out of a brick wall in Florence. The more interesting - the better!

Travel and escape are interchangeable words to me, a chance to remove myself from my day to day reality and explore something new. When I lock the door to the house and head out on a trip, my tempo changes and I notice things that normally I would ignore. Travel is my chance to lock away stress and open a can of happiness. I love impromptu road trips and weekend getaways. I actually keep a bag packed and a list of trip ideas ready so that when Friday comes I can go. If you like the outdoors, dogs, stories that don't make much sense, or rock climbing, stay tuned.

Chris McGinnis
Chris McGinnis hit the roads and skies early on and has never let up. As a kid on family vacations in the 60's, you'd find him in the airplane galley chatting with flight attendants, scoring airline wings or decks of cards and begging for visits to the cockpit. Later, Chris pursued a degree in international business....Why? Because of the opportunities to travel that such a career would bring.

My idea of the perfect travel day is waking up in a fabulous boutique hotel somewhere I've never visited, searching for that perfect morning cup of coffee in a sidewalk cafe, watching the people go by, finding the museums, art galleries and quaint shops - and at the end of the day searching for that perfect glass of wine! As a "newbie" empty nester, I'm looking forward to new beginnings, new challenges and many new places - hope to see you there!

Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, I grew up in an incredibly diverse city and from a young age was keen to learn about different cultures and parts of the world. I was fortunate to be born into a family that loved to travel . By the age of 10 I had visited the Carribean, Italy, France, Korea, Japan, Thailand and a number of destinations throughout Canada and the United States. My thirst for traveling and exploring new places continued into my adult years, and these days while most of my travels have been business-related, my husband and I manage to squeeze in as much personal traveling into our busy lives as possible! My idea of a perfect vacation includes fine wine and fresh local food, a massage at the spa, exercise - preferably outdoors, a decadently comfortable bed, and some excitement, such as a local show or a sporting event. My favorite vacation to date is a tie between Mykonos, Greece and the Amalfi Coast, Italy.

I consider my passport a life-sustaining necessity. Since I was a baby, I've been traveling internationally, visiting more than 40 countries and taking up residence in 6 different nations- some quasi-democracies, some dictatorships. When asked where I'm from, I'm more likely to say where I've most recently lived/visited. Most unusual experience: spending time with the Nivacle tribe in the remote Chaco region of Paraguay.

Vegas this weekend? Sure. London next month? No problem. I'm starved for adventure. Finally at a place in my life where last minute travels and adventures are possible, I'm ready for whatever the open roads and skies have in store. Work travel is my bread and butter, but it's leisure travel that keeps me going. No kids to worry about and a schedule that can be changed with the drop of hat. See all posts from Mark Deyer

Ever since my parents threw me in the back of the car at the age of five on a road trip through Arizona, I've been hooked. Travel Junkie. The wonder of travel for me is finding the unique aspects of each destination that gives it character. My ideal travel itinerary includes a lot of meandering, unscheduled exploration, and surprising discoveries - the hidden streets of the Barrio Gothic in Barcelona, a traditional Chinese fishing village on a distant island near Hong Kong, a leisurely boat ride through the deltas in Tigre, Argentina. Destinations that are meant to be explored again and again: New York, Paris, Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Vienna.

A perfect travel day for me is landing in a city I have never been and just exploring, hoping on the bus, taking the subway, or strolling through the sites. Being a Dad in my 30's also involves some juggling and balance...I mean, who watches the kids while I'm out exploring, right? And though I prefer to travel for leisure, I've had my fair share of business adventures too. Red eye to Wichita anyone?

When I think of travel, I'm headed anywhere I can seek adventure. In 2005 I finished a 3-year journey to climb the tallest mountain on every continent, including Mount Everest. I love the outdoors and I love tangible goals. Mountain climbing, swimming, waterskiing, you name it. I push the limits whenever I get the chance. My next big challenge is to traverse 10 Degrees of Latitude on every continent under human power. I'll be posting about those adventures and many more side adventures right here on this blog.

Sam Lowe, an almost-native Arizonan, has been traveling and writing about it ever since he was sent to Israel and Egypt to cover a peace-treaty
signing that ended a brief war between the two countries. Since then, he
has been stranded in Zambia, sang a solo in Munich, judged a Miss World
beauty contest in Mexico, climbed halfway up Mt. Fuji, met with the prime
minister of the Republic of China, snorkled the Great Barrier Reef,
wingwalked, been a circus clown, impersonated a wax dummy and driven the
Goodyear Blimp, among other things in the 40-plus countries and 46 states he
has visited.
