Biketoberfest

biketober.jpgIf you haven't left for Biketoberfest 2012 yet, you're probably going to miss it. The last big motorcycle rally of the year takes place from October 18 to October 21 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

You've missed the opportunity to ride the 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The HD Demo Ride Event will be making a stop at Bruce Rossmeyer's Harley-Davidson in Ormond Beach from October 18 - 20. If you're a H.O.G. member, you've also missed a Pin Stop at the Demo Truck.

You've missed the chance to hear some great national bands, some up-and-coming local bands and some fun cover and tribute bands at bars and venues all over town. I would have liked to have seen Lita Ford, Warrant and Quiet Riot, and I probably would have stopped by for a set of Led Zeppelin tunes by Houses of the Holy and at least a few songs by a band called "Donkey Punch," just because.

You've missed the chance to visit all of the vendors, hang out with all of the other motorcyclists, admire the cool custom bikes at the bike shows and out on the streets, and generally do some fantastic people-watching (my favorite sport).

Our old pals Eagle Rider have an outlet in Daytona Beach and several others around Florida. Even if you can't ride all the way to the Southeast, you can rent a Harley from Eagle Rider and cruise into the event in style, so Biketoberfest isn't totally out of the question. I would fly in to Miami and start my journey there if I were going to the event.

It's never too early to start planning for Biketoberfest 2013, which will be held from October 17 - 20, 2013. It's never too early -- but it can easily become too late, like this year.

    Not sure if you are local to the Daytona Beach- Volusia County area, but the band "Donkey Punch" will be playing the venue 316 Main Street Station this June 1st, 2013 for a free show at the garage bar!
