St. Patrick's Day is here again! What a great holiday celebrating Irish culture and heritage! Since its original parade in 1783, March 17 has evolved into feasts and festivals and celebrations of the pride and culture of Ireland - regardless of your own national heritage. As they say, "Everyone's Irish on March 17th!"
As you may expect, some of the country's biggest and best St. Patrick's Day festivities take place in some of the more 'Irish' cities. The city of Boston, with its long Irish tradition, draws more than 500,000 visitors each year and boasts one of the nation's largest parades (its 111th this year!) and more Irish pubs than any other city in the US. Visit the Harpoon St. Patrick's Festival featuring food, drinks, and live Irish rock bands from the Boston area. Or head to the Irish Cultural Centre of New England for breakfast and pints and Irish music and folk dancing. Best Western offers some great places in and around Boston including the BEST WESTERN PLUS Roundhouse Suites and BEST WESTERN PLUS Boston - The Inn at Longwood Medical (both in downtown Boston) and the BEST WESTERN PLUS Hotel Tria in Cambridge - located near Harvard and just a short train ride from downtown Boston.
Chicago is another great home St. Patrick's Day. With 12 locations in the greater Chicago area, including the Best Western Grand Park Hotel, Best Western Plus River North Hotel, and Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace Hotel, it couldn't be easier to grab your green gear, catch the L, and check out all the city has to offer! Be sure to watch the Chicago River get dyed green before you head to the annual parade. What a sight! Join in the St. Paddy's 5 or 8k run/walk and win a prize for the best outfit. Visit the Irish American Heritage Center's annual party for traditional and contemporary Irish music, dancing and food. You can also venture to Lincoln Park for the 37th Annual benefit and enjoy live music, drinks and more.
Remember, wherever you decide to celebrate your St. Patrick's Day, there is always a Best Western nearby to lay your head after a long day of revelry. After all the parades, corned beef and cabbage, and green beer - one of our comfy beds is exactly what you'll need!

We booked Best Western on expedia. It came up top of the list as a pet friendly hotel. After driving 12 hours, we checked in at Best Western in Allentown PA. at 2:30 pm. The MANAGER checked us in with our mini daschund in tow and commented about what a cute dog he was. We settled in to the room and then went for a walk. We returned around 4 pm and were stopped by the hotel attendant-Raymond Hasker-telling us that Best Western does not allow pets and that we had to leave. It took us two hours arguing with the obnoxious attendant and management to try to get things straightened out. They refused to refund the room fee, even after we showed them that expedia lists them as pet friendly-top of the list. Raymond Hasker- very condescending-when speaking to my husband, referred to me-as "your girlfriend..or..whatever..!" We had to argue with them to be able to go back to our room and get our things as well. The manager that checked us in, told Raymond Hasker that she thought the dog was a service dog-seriously-a mini doxy? Then she changed her story to she did not see the dog at all when questioned by another manager. Check the surveillance video, We asked for a printed copy of our bill with check in and check out times Raymond Hasker refused to give us a copy and argued that all the information was on line, but we insisted. Come to find out he didn't even know how to run the printer and had to ask his manager to do it. Our experience is that Best Western has nice rooms, but incompetent, condescending, rude, lying cheats working for them.
Mistakes happen, it could have gone so much better if they had discretely apopogized for their error and suggested another place to stay in the area. They made us feel like criminals just because we had a pet, and kicked us out. We had no way other than to drive our truck and u-haul around to look for another hotel, or drive the additional 6 hours to get home. We got home at 2 in the morning, no thanks to Best Western. I do not recommend this hotel at all because of the people they have working for them. With so many other options for hotels, why would any one?
