Our favorite vacation is the Circle Tour around Lake Superior. It was beautiful last summer with all the wildflowers in bloom and the blue, blue lake, sandy secluded beaches and picture-perfect lighthouses; our vacation dream is to drive it all over again in the height of the fall foliage in late September, then once more in the winter. It is a beautiful ongoing display of the wild and nature and appreciation of all God's creation.

By Brandon Bethea on May 10, 2012 12:00 PM

I'm a big believer in the role timing plays with vacations. Sure, spur-of-the-moment trips are great, but I look back with a smile knowing I traveled to Russia in 1989, New York City for 2000, and Thailand around the New Year celebration for 2007. That being said, Cancun and other parts of Mexico are THE place to go for 2012. Even if the world doesn't end with the Mayan calendar on December 21st, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit this culture and country during this interesting time on Earth! My dream and recommendation is to visit the Mayan ruins of Mexico (and/or Guatemala), swim with harmless whale sharks during their summer migration at Isla de Mujeres, and soak up some sun on the beautiful beaches. No time like the present and no better season than Summer to see Mexico and the Mayan sites!

I want my kids to see everything they can, so I think our next trip will be to Washington DC or Chicago.

The best place to visit would be Toronto, Ontario, Canada! Why? There are so many awesome things to do in Toronto this summer, like go to the Honda Indy to see the race cars, visit Canada's Wonderland, the CN Tower and did I mention the great shopping? I love shopping in Toronto...there are so many great stores in the downtown area.

Our favorite place to vacation would have to be Colorado. Even though we live in a state that has the Smoky Mountains, it is awe-inspiring to be among the majestic mountains of Colorado. A great place to visit and dream of visiting again.

By Best Western Maven on May 10, 2012 12:06 PM

The California Redwoods in Humboldt County are beautiful in the summer months. You can visit them from the Mendocino County Line to the Oregon Border, and stay at 4 Best Westerns in between: Garberville, Eureka, Arcata and Crescent City! Take a spin through the Avenue of the Giants and stop for a visit to the Victorian Village of Ferndale (utilized for several movies including Outbreak, Salem's Lot and The Majestic, plus Will Smith's latest just finished filming)before heading north to the county seat and city of Eureka. Find all sorts of Art, Artists, and treasure in Old Town. Arcata is our sleepy college town, noted for its charming old Plaza and world famous Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary. Travel up the coast for some unforgetable rugged coast and ocean scenery.

i have always wanted to take my son down to Florida to Orlando and Seaworld. In Canada however you must go up north to Parry Sound and take the 30,000 boat cruise its stunning. when you leave tour around Georgian Bay for amazing beaches and beautiful small towns. Its an amazing place to visit during the summer.

    By lisa w on May 10, 2012 12:10 PM

The best place to travel for us is the Oregon Coast... Seaside, Oregon to be exact. We love this little seaside town and go back there every year. From the sand volleyball tournament in august, beach run in july, to nightly fires on the beach that light up the dark beach like fireflys there is something for everyone. Just 2 hours from Portland this town is a great family destination. You can rent bikes to ride on the road for one or 8 or even get one to ride on the sandy beach. You can fly kites practically everyday. If you are into hiking you can go just down the street to tillamook head and hike to your hearts content. You can surf, beach comb for shells or hit the sand dollar jackpot like we have several times when we have gone where we have found in excess of over 100 of them. There is an aquarium right on the beach and a excess of games for the kids to play at the arcade. Lets not forget the food... From Pig in a Pancake, a local famiy favorite to the famous CandyMan store that sells salt water taffy and ice cream treats along with all the fair type food stands. There is something for everyone. For you history people its also where the Louis and Clark trail ended. At the famous turn around right on the beach. Nearby south is Cannon Beach with all its art galleries and Haystack Rock. To the north is Astoria with its Maritime museum. Plenty to do if you want to or if you want to relax on the beach looking at the beautiful pacific ocean dotted with seastacks this is the place for you!!!

I have not been able to go yet as I still have my youngest daughter at home, and still in school until the end of May, then we are on our way!! Hopefully not crowding the new baby, daughter, and son-in-law, by staying in a Best Western family friendly hotel!

Everyone needs to visit Flathead lake in northwestern Montana and Glacier National Park. Right now the snow is still on the higher peaks, the mountain goats are on ledges, and all the young animals are coming out. The spring wild flowers are starting to pop up. The lake is placid and so serene. Nothing like it in the world. It looks like Switzerland, but in the USA.

Traveling across country with a friend visiting different places along the way such as Nashville, TN, New Orleans, LA. and where ever else the road will take us.... There is nothing like a road trip to explore the USA. There is no better place to spend the nite than at a Best Western along the way.

The best place to travel this summer would be to anywhere that is laid back like any small southern town, where you can get a good country meal as well as fresh fruits and vegetables. It is always good to get away from a big city like Miami and go to a place where the people are friendlier and life is a lot slower.

I know this will sound like a Best Western plug however, my favorite spot right now is Monterey, California. In my opinion, there is no better hotel in Monterey than the Best Western Monterey Resort. It's right on the beach. It's clean and the staff is wonderful. It is beautiful!!! Has plenty of activities or just lay on a cedar deck chair and enjoy the gorgeous blue sky and the salty air. If you do not like the sound of the ocean - this is not the hotel for you because you will hear the waves crash on the beach all night long. I can't wait to introduce my future husband to this special spot this summer!!!!!

    By Lisa H on May 10, 2012 6:25 PM

We live in Denver, and the best place for a road trip is to Durango, CO! We love it there! If we aren't camping, there are a couple great BWs in town. Rafting down the river, hiking in the mountains, riding bikes, enjoying great meals at the local restaurants...and countless more adventures! Can't wait to get back there...hopefully in a couple weeks.

My husband and I love to travel for our vacations. I have no idea whether this is the best place to go, but we are going to travel around Texas this month, because we have never really seen much of Texas. I want to see The Alamo and the Riverwalk and South Padre Island and Corpus Christi and maybe further West where there are hills and mountains. Really don't know what is there, but we are going to try and find out.

By Carrie Kelly on May 10, 2012 6:39 PM

We love to go to Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan, a unique interprovincial park with lots of wildlife to see. It's a great place to see a moose! We always go paddle boating, play a round of golf and go on a trail ride on horseback. Not only is it a lot of fun, but the prices are reasonable.

Seeing the grandkids and the kids coming out in all of us laugh and enjoy themselves. We need more relaxing vacations and not rush through. We stayed at the Best Western in Rapid City. My favorite family vacation spot is the Best Western in Point Edward, Ontario, Canada. I love this place because of the great staff, nice pool, and comfy beds, but the reason I really love coming here is this is the town I grew up in and my family still lives in the area. We love going under the Bluewater Bridge for fries and watching the boats pass by. My favorite days were spent here :)

While in Fairbanks we have booked a tour bus tour to the Artic Circle, a river boat tour, a historical tour of Fairbanks and a gold mine tour. Road trip starts back up headed back south through Alaska, the Yukon Territory, Alberta and back into the US in Montana. Overall we will be out over 10,000 miles and just under 30 days! Love the Road Trip!

San Diego!!!! This was our honeymoon destination almost 4 years ago and with our first little one on the way in August, I would love to take my dear husband on a little getaway before our lives get too crazy:-)

We love spending our summer vacation in Bainbridge Island, WA. HIghlights include an old fashioned Fourth of July parade and celebration, the Tour de Coop backyard chicken coop tour, garden tours, farmer's market, nice shops and restaurants and Seattle just a 35-minute ferry ride away-a treat in itself. Oh, and i forgot to mention views of the Space Needle, Rainier, and Puget Sound.

New Zealand was my favorite trip. Rent a car and drive the entire south island in just 3 days finishing in the Fiord Lands on a beautiful canoe trip in the Indian ocean!

There is nothing like driving from NY to CA and stopping along the way at all the uniquely American stops along the way. Route 66 especially!!!!

Washington/Idaho. The natural beauty is fantastic according to my hubby who lived there, but I've never been.
