We would love to return to the mountains of North Carolina, take a tour of Lake Lure, dine at a little place overlooking the lake, then take the Blue Ridge Parkway and leisurely stop along the way to see the NC Aboretum, the Biltmore Estates, stop over at the Grove Park Inn, wind our way along over to Blowing Rock and on into the Virginia Wine Country and eventually to Roanoke and Salem where we could visit the little farmer markets and stop at the little out of the way places that are uniquely "Americana" and speak to our hearts. . .it is always like going home to us. It brings us back to our first days of courting when we first began to spend time with one another and to fall in love with one another and to find that common ground. . .that miracle of nature, of a beauty beyond compare that is always changing shared with a friend. . .nothing like it.

Portugal would be a dream come true. To go exploring....where all the explorers started from. Portugal was a rich country many years ago. They had the spice trade. It was a main hub. They conquered so many countries and then lost them. The churches are magnificent...so many...and everyone worked for the ruler...everything put into churches. To see the fortress that overlooked the land....and to walk...run......and explore. It is an amazing country with so much history and culture. The outdoor restaurants ..... waiters wooing you in to come dine at their spot! And the custard tarts...to die for!!!!

I travel there for work all the time, and my wife always wonders how it is that I speak so highly of somewhere "in the middle of nowhere". The people are awesome, the wilderness is incredible, and five minutes away from the hotel the peace and tranquility is unbeleivable. She's never ben there with me, but I intend to change that this summer...

How exciting to be able to go anywhere in the world, I would have to say that I would want to visit the Bahamas. We have traveled very little due to my health. I just recently went through a brain surgery to have a benign tumor removed which was successful. Now we see life through a different lens and want to do everything on our bucket lists of life. No more waiting. Now is the time to see and do what excites the senses and fulfills our hopes and dreams. Travel to the Caribbean is one of these things. Life is too short, live every day like its your last! :)

We love a romantic get weekend to San Deigo CA. We love staying at the Best Western Island Palm Hotel. They offer junior suites wih a water view that help create a relaxing atmosphere. The area has great places to sight see if you're in the mood. Restaurants are fantastic and endless too, but if you just want to hang out in the room to eat it has a great kitchenette. To top it all off the local businesses have always been warm and friendly. We have met many great people that make us feel like locals. I think you can tell by now San Deigo is one of our favorite getaways. Hope you can make it some time.

A romantic city, an old city is St. Augustine, Fl. Start with a moon lit ride in your
white horse drawn carriage, stroll the cobble stone streets to an intimate
candle lit dinner, have an after dinner coffee in a tree top tavern and stroll
the pristine beach before snuggling into a soft warm pillow top mattress
and crisp linens and a warm comforter in the arms of the one you love.

Florence where you can stroll down narrow streets, enjoy espresso on one of their piazzas, and a glass of wine in a sidewalk cafe while people watching.

In this remote part of the world on the largest cadera lake in the world, the most beautiful and romantic sight is the Sipiso-piso waterfall. In the Indonesian language it mean small knife because the waterfalling from 120 meter high looks like a blade of a long knife. The vegetation is lushciously green with the water flowing out the mouth to the biggest inland lake (Lake Toba) on this 1050 mile long Sumatra island. All you hear is the thunderous sound and peaceful scenery. Life is at a standstill here where you relax. I wish to spend my time with my lost love. It takes some efforts to get to this part of the jungle but once you get here you will be spoiled by the life in Lake Toba. Look it up on tripadvisor.com There are many hotels here suited to every taste. This is not a party island but get you close to nature. Clean water and the temperature is just nice to swim in. This is the paradise in this part of the world (Shhhhh..... this is a secrete). A place to wind down and relax and recharge. Romantic in the eyes of beholder.

    My Aloha Regained ......
The day starts by the sun always shine with a smile on its face as it trades places with the Man of the Moon searching for his pet rock. The day is filled with an adventure for two, along with some sprinkles of hidden pleasures along the way. Sea birds at flight high in the sky. Green plant rain forrest views with giant waterfalls to take away all your thoughts. Breeze on by with a day of lazness nap by hammocks rocking your worries away. Awaken the morning with a feast of fresh paradise gifts from the what appears to be The Garden Of Eden , but you are no forbidden to eat this is our treat. Come comb never ending white sands beaches with crabs and other sea like creatures. Find a pool or pool two slip inside and swim up for a fresh pineapple sprits. Spot a spa treatment coupled by a feast of fresh
exotic fruits and island treats. Followed by the sun rays watch the wave break 15 feet tall and the it all fades to a bold sprays or oranges and hot pinks like a perfect Pacific Ocean painting. Feel the drums from the natives past , chase them like a primal trance. Take up hula to show your stuff its harder then it looks. So just sit back and watch the show, following the rustic flow. Then hand explore the moonlit tides ending by catching up on some much needed zzzzz. Awake in the early morning mist by doing yoga with the dolphins. Remember you don't have to raise , you are guest just sit and enjoy Fresh coffee and treat table side or enjoy it pool side. Stay in your suite king and queen maybe enjoy the most perfect comfort is just a tease. All of this is just an arms reach from mango & the coconut trees. Morning reaches a new one I discover a fish while snorkeling that you only can see In Paradise "My my" this would remind me to follow the tides towards the North Shore and to sail back towards the moon as it sneaks back up towards the heavens as the backdrop fades into night, achors away to the past.....Aloha

While I have never been, I imagine spending time in California Wine Country (Sonoma County) with my husband of 13 years could be most romantic. We could sample wine from several of the local wineries, have romantic candle light dinners without whining (that would be because our children would not be with us). We would stay at the Best Wester Elm House Inn and take a swim and use the hot tub. Then we might drive down the coast along highway 1 to stretch our time together. Maybe visit the Hearst Mansion and stop in Santa Barbra and stay at the Best Western Pepper Tree Inn. Both of these hotels offer tastefully appointed rooms and romantic grounds. I think I might have just started planning our next vacation together!

Being a food & music guy, there is no better place than New Orleans! Great food virtually everywhere, tremendous music, and plenty of dancing. Hit the zydeco dance floor at the mid-city Rock 'n Bowl, any Cajun dance hall out near Lafayette, the club scene in Frenchtown, Tipitina's Uptown for Mia Borders or the Iguanas, or the Maple Leaf at river bend for Walter "Wolfman" Washington. The humid and sultry weather adds to the mood and the dancing helps burn off those high-calorie meals.

Time it right and you can throw in the Voice of the Wetlands Festival in nearby Houma during the daytime. No better bang for the buck and hidden musical talent every year begging to be discovered.

Okay, I convinced myself: we're going back this October!

We love to get off the beaten path, to travel backroads and find the small town gems, and quite often find a nice Best Western too! The romance is sharing these experiences and making memories together, sometimes farther away involving days of travel and sometimes not far from home, but enough to make it feel like a mini-vacation - it's the time spent that makes it special. Best Western has properties in so many great locations, it would be hard to chose just one, so we'll just have to work our way through the list!

By bill mangan on February 5, 2013 7:14 AM

The south eastern coast of Queensland,Australia, has an ideal, year round warm climate with more days of sun than rain. The odd hurricane only adds to the excitement. The beaches provide one with the desire to relax and soak in the 'goodness'.

When I was 19 I was a student in Europe and loved visiting Paris in the Springtime. My girlfriend and I fell in love with the City of Lights - the art, food and impressive architecture. We enjoyed walking for miles and people watching. Paris is truly for couples in love. My girlfriend eventually became my wife. We always planned to return but that never happened. The years passed and she died. Now that I am 69 yeas of age, it would warm my heart to walk Paris again and recall those times that were so special.

Some places would take more than just a weekend, so feeling rushed isn't very romantic. For peaceful, romantic bliss, my wife and I would travel to Algonquin Park in northern Ontario. Whether we are in a hotel, cabin, or tent, the nights under the skies, possible campfires, nature walks, and canoeing around endless lakes takes my wife back to her childhood. She pines for a weekend like this, so giving it to her would be most romantic for us.

    By Suz-Ann Chomyszyn on February 5, 2013 8:06 AM

I would pick Dublin, Ireland. I had purchased a trip to Dublin for Christmas & New Year. It was my life time dream vacation. Shortly after booking the trip, I starting dating my boyfriend. I could just imagine us sitting in the Guinness Store House Lounge, drinking our Guinness while looking over the lights of Dublin.

I would choose to have a romantic weekend in Las Angeles in June about the first week. Go to the beach and enjoy things like Disneyland and checking out the sites there. I was born in Hemet and I have not been back there in about 40 years. so it would be awesome to check out that part of California while I was down in the area. I believe we still have family there. Might be nice to see them.

My perfect weekend away with my honey would be in Bora Bora. I've travelled a fair bit but my partner hasn't. I have always wanted to go somewhere tropical where I could Stay in one of those over water bungles right on the ocean. You have your own personal entrance to the prestine waters everyday, to be able to gaze out over the lagoons and watch the sunset while wrapped up together in a hammock. To be able to jump into a couple of kayaks right from your front door and take a picnic lunch to your own secluded beach for the afternoon. To be able to experience something like that with the man I love .. to be with him while he experiences the joy of travelling to a tropical foreign country for the first time.... I couldn't imagine anything more romantic.

A romantic getaway to Victoria, British Columbia would be delightful. Being a capital city makes Victoria a beautiful location. No matter when you go it is green and lush. Springtime is my favourite time of year -- daffodils are are everywhere, cherry blossoms and flowering dogwoods line the streets. One can walk for miles around the harbour. And course there are ever so many quaint shops, restaurants, bookstores and coffee bars to while away the time. A visit to Victoria would be a lovely springtime interlude!

Blue Lagoon in Iceland. I was there with my honey a number of years ago and I went to get a massage, but when I returned to the lagoon, I couldn't find him! The place is huge and there's always a foggy mist so you can't see too far. So here I am in the most romantic, warm, interesting place in the world and I'm alone. Poor him ... he couldn't find me either. So both of us were wandering around in the pools alone. I want a do-over!

As much as I would live to travel to several romantic Destinations. The most romantic getaway for me would be to spend a couple nights with my husband at the Best Western in Vancouver, Washington managed by Alex Fullerton. The customer service and the treatment the staff provide far exceed any other hotel I have stayed at. I'm sure there are many destinations that are extraordinary but the personal connection with the customer service personnel is more important than any destination. My romantic getaway would be to Kauai HI. My husband is retired Navy. As a young enlisted couple we didn't have money for a honeymoon. We were stationed in HI. for nine years (1977-1986) but we only had one weekend getaway (just the two of us) in all those years. When he came home from a six month deployment a friend watched our son while we went to Kauai (1978). It was wonderful, we went to the Fern Grotto and relaxed on the beach. That was magical, when they sang The Hawaiian Wedding Song I cried. My mother had been there in the 60's and it was just like she described. We've never been back to Hawaii since we left.
This summer will be our 37th anniversary, it would be wonderful to go back to Kauai and visit the Grotto again.

We are middle age and about to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Ever since I was a little girl, it has been my dream to go to Italy, because I used to watch a tv program called, 'To Rome With Love'. It was about a single father, raising three daughters. There was a fountain where wishes could be made, and it seemed like such a magical place to me as a child. There are so many places you hear about all your life, but it would be so incredible to have the chance to make a childhood dream a reality! Here's hoping :)

We have always talked about going to Las Vegas. We never have gone, because we always have been buys raising our kids when they were younger & our vacations then were always family vacations & kid freindly. Now that the kids are up & out, life gets busy & the grandkids are wonderful. Las Vegas has been on our bucket list for some time, just seems that we never get around to planning it & going LOL! Even though our children are adults, I can't remember the last time we took a vacation, just us, without other family along in tow. Would love to take a "no kids" adult vacation for just the two of us. It would be the first one in 25 years :)

I would travel to Santorini, Greece where the scenery is amazing, the food is fresh, the local wine superb, and the atmosphere unbeatable. Stars shine like diamonds, millions of diamonds, in the night sky and one can just imagine sailors over the ages using the same ones to guide themselves. The whitewashed lanes and buildings offer the perfect place to stroll with your lover to see the beautiful sunset, shops and restaurants, street musicians and art galleries. And the whole island is surrounded by the shimmering, sparkling sea. The epitome of romance and one of the honeymoon capitols of the world.

For a truly enjoyable extra long weekend I would pick some place that didn't require lots of travel time to get there--some place with few people, lots of nature, good food, right on the ocean - hmmm, maybe some place like Fiji. Okay it's a long ways away but it fits the bill and would definitely be a romantic interlude for a long-married couple.

I think a romantic weekend would be in Normandy

About 3 years ago we were going to go biking in St Ignace in the fall. We had reservations at the Best Western there and we were calling it our "romantic get away", as it was our first trip away as empty nesters. My husband lost his job about 1 week prior to our departure.
Needless to say, the trip was first to go. It would be 2 years before my college educated husband found a job.
Over the last 2 years we have been trying to get back on our feet, and yet we still haven't forgotten our "romantic get away".
Real romance is found in doing anything with the one you love, anywhere!!

I think I would love to go back to Catalina Island for a Romantic Weekend. When we were there many years ago we had meant to explore the island but found a quiet little spot to have a couple of drinks and just watch the harbour which we ended up doing the whole time we were there. So peaceful. To me a Romantic Weekend would be just us two, not sight seeing, no shopping, just being us together, relaxing and having a special dinner in a quiet restaurant somewhere. Whenever I am at the ocean, these lyrics from Otis Redding's song repeats in my mind......
    Sittin' in the mornin' sun
I'll be sittin' when the evenin' come
    Watching the ships roll in
And then I watch 'em roll away again, yeah

I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
    Watching the tide roll away
Ooo, I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay
    Wastin' time

If I can put in a a plug for Best Western, they have one of the nicest luxury and romantic hotels just outside of Venice, Italy. Check it out...in Preganziol, Italy, an old mansion, with just a short train ride into Venice with the train station just 10" from the hotel, on the same road. Then, after touring Venice, take a stroll in the next town north of Preganziol, in Treviso, Italy.. Wonderful! You'll love all three ...the hotel, Venice and Treviso....all very romatic and dripping with culture and history.

My special romantic weekend would be in Victoria B.C. Canada. It has nature, culture and many romantic B&B like the one I stayed in many years ago. The Royal BC Museam in Victoria will always be special for me. It can be very romantic behind the exhibits as the mood lighting and vibe of seeing exotic displays was very alluring for me and my future husband.in a very demure way.

Paris, France. The Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the sidewalk cafes, Notre Dame, Versailles, Montmartre Hill. I was there once years ago (traveling alone, alas), and I burst into tears the first time I saw the Eiffel Tower. I would love to go back as part of a couple.

    Niagra Falls with my hubby.
We were both there as teenagers long before we ever met one another.
It was something we both felt that we would like to share with a spouse in the years to come. Now that we are married, it would be ideal to spend a romantic weekend there together. Someday....

I'd fly my wife to Paris for dinner and a cruise along the Seine.  We'd ride up the Eiffel Tower and smile back at the Mona Lisa.  Paris is the city of love and we'd love to go there.

If I could spend a romantic weekend anywhere in the world, I would take my husband back to the Best Western Naples Inn & Suites in Naples, Florida. The tropical ponds, waterfalls, swimming pools and hot tub are incredible. Plus, I loved eating breakfast in the garden area. I could definitely use some warmer weather, and southwest Florida is where I'd like for us to be right now.

I have checked it out on line and the city looks so lovely now with the museums, boardwalk and other sites to see. THE SUNKEN GARDEN would be so nice to walk through.

New Orleans, la is where I would go. Getting powdered sugar all over my clothes from eating beignets at cafe du mo de is my idea of romance. Listening to new Orleans music while riding in the streetcars or riding in a horse drawn carriage can be so refreshing from the daily realities of life. Having someone to share it with is the equivalent of sipping on a pat o brines hurricane.

Cold places can be romantic too! I would love to be snuggled up in front of a crackling fire in a beautiful lodge after a great day of skiing in the rocky mountains. A steaming outdoor hot tub surrounded by snow and the dark silhouettes of mountain peaks is very sexy as well! A great way to relax those muscles from skiing. Sunshine Mountain in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada is where I would be. You can only get to the base of the hill by gondola, another romantic thing to do!

A romantic week end would be spent in Washington DC in the Spring. Between the cherry blossoms and the Potomac River, romance is in the air. There is a trail along the Potomac River that is good for walking hand in hand as we take in the views. There are many overlooks as well along the river - one of which was where my husband proposed to me 42 years ago. We certainly will revisit that spot and have a picnic there.

My dream romantic getaway is one where few people have gone before, because I always like to be different. :) So no Paris or Vegas for me, my first choice of a date would be Antarctica. Just imagine, long cross country skiing on the beach, candlelight dinner in a melting igloo to the candlelight, watching the sun set on a field of penguins getting eaten by seals while National Geographic is hiding in a corner filming in slow motion. And this is just the tip of the iceberg! . . we're sitting on.

Not sure if Best Western has expanded to the South Pole yet, but will definitely use this card toward our stay there. Hope your hotel there has standard heating! Standard parkas work too.

I would love to go with my husband to Bora Bora. I heard it's absolutely stunning. We could spend the weekend just relaxing on the beach, go for long walks on the beach and have dinner watching the sun set. That would be the most romantic weekend for me.

When it comes to full time jobs, raising 5 children and busy lives, any time away with the one you love would be romantic as it's not only the place your at, it's the person your with.

    By cynthia d on February 14, 2013 6:26 AM

My most romantic memory is: our honeymoon was spent in Raleigh NC to attend the Special Olympics my son participates in. My hubby is a retired drill sgt. and is salty and crusty, but he accepted my kids, and on the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics seeing all the athletes coming out my hubby openly wept the one and only time I have seen him cry in our many years of marriage. Thats romance in my book deep and overwhelming respect for my son and all the other athletes.

By Dave on February 14, 2013 6:36 AM

My wife and I have been on several romantic trips and hopefully will do many more. We have decided it really doesn't matter where you go from Hawaii, to Vegas, to Niagara Falls, to sitting on the couch together watching a movie, it is who you are with and if you love being with them. She makes me laugh all the time and we just have the most fun together. So instead of a place look at the person. Having said all that we did especially love our honeymoon in Niagara Falls for romance though.

By Wendy on February 14, 2013 6:43 AM

I would love to stay on Necker Island (British Virgin Islands). A private island retreat with villas that have a 360-degree view, private beaches, private pools, breathtaking views, a personal chef, and a team of about 60 staff.

By Patrice Johnson on February 14, 2013 6:55 AM

My husband and I have been married 3 times, no divorce and NO honeymoon. These have been the happiest five years of my life. We would both love to give each other a honeymoon. My dream weekend trip would be to Africa. And of course I would stay at a Best Western located in either Ghana, Nigeria or South Africa. We would spend our days on safari and our nights cuddling.

Maybe its the romantic image of times gone by on our honeymoon in Hawaii, but I would love to return for a romantic weekend to Kauai or Maui. Enjoying walks in the moonlight, lunch on the lanai while watching the swans swimming in the pond, hanging our in a cozy room without the distractions of home life and a great red wine with a wonderful meal to finish the day.

Have to admit, this one is tough...so many places. But, considering how cold it is in Minnesota right now, I think San Fransisco would be not only much, much warmer, but a lovely little get away for me and my hubby. Always wanted to go & we could look at it like a mini honeymoon, since we never had one. :)

By LISA on February 16, 2013 4:35 AM

Romance for my husband and I would begin by waking up, without an alarm clock, having a quiet stroll hand in hand along the beach as we critic those gorgeous homes that overlook this view daily. Our fantasy getaway would continue with a served breakfast, beach side of course, then a day of talking and sharing as we people watch letting the world turn while we calmed to the everlasting lull of the tropical sea lapping ashore. Hawaii would always be a first choice but for a weekend anywhere warm enough with the most spendid view of the ocean and my husband relaxing with me is all I could really ask for.

Lake Placid in upstate NY. A nice hike, maybe a little kayaking, some beach time. Wind down the day with cocktails in a bright Adirondack chair at water's edge with the beautiful mountain peaks in the distance, followed by a nice dinner and great bottle of wine. All opportunities to reconnect and focus only on each other. The combination of fresh air, fun activities and relaxation in an absolutely beautiful setting - a great recipe for a weekend of romance!

I picture a romantic table set for 2, set in the countryside of a beautiful lush green foliaged vineyard in Tuscany, Italy! Sipping on a local crisp delicious wine, nibbling on slices of fabulous fresh bread, assorted cheeses and olives set out before us, gazing into each other's eyes! a soft wind caressing our hair, our hands reaching out across the table to hold each other, with adoration! words of love never ending spoken to each other in soft tones in such a sunny warm gorgeous area, that to me is a romantic setting I dream of with my husband of 30 years and the chance to toast each other that we will be lucky to have another 30 more together!
