Find Your Motorcycle Adventure with the H-D Motorcycle Maps iPhone App

One of the first tools I reach for when planning a trip is a map. And my map of choice for a motorcycle trip is one from MAD Maps . "MAD" stands for "Motor Adventure Destinations," and MAD Maps is a different kind of map company. Founded by a motorcyclist, the company puts out a variety of state and regional maps that cater to motorcyclists. The maps highlight the best motorcycling roads, the coolest biker destinations and fun, out of the way places that don't always stand out on an "ordinary" map. When you're out riding, the shortest distance between point A and point B is not necessarily the best route. And MAD Maps knows it.
I used MAD Maps to plan and execute my recent trip to South Texas. I ordered the MAD Maps Texas Map for an overview, and the Harley-Davidson Austin, San Antonio and Houston maps for more intimate detail, and motorcycle-specific advice. I found roads that I never would have explored with a general purpose atlas, and the trip was all the better for it.
Now, in partnership with Harley-Davidson, MAD Maps has launched The Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Maps iPhone app that enables users to download electronic editions of routes directly to their iPhones. The application has a searchable database of over 1000 routes in the continental United States, each highlighting the best roads, things to see, and places to go.
In addition, the application will show you where the Harley dealers are on your route. And when you're ready to stop for the night, the app will show you where to find a Best Western Hotel. It's almost like having Harley-Davidson's web-based Ride Planner in your pocket.
The application sells for 99 cents, including five ride downloads. Additional downloads are 99 cents each. You can download The Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Maps application at the iTunes Store, or directly on your iPhone.
