Hall of, err, Fame?
December 15 2008 by Mike Mason
Almost everyone has heard of Cooperstown, Canton, and Cleveland as primo Hall of Fame destinations, but what about the Trap Shooting Hall of Fame in Vandalia, Ohio?
Honestly, I don't even know what trap shooting is exactly, but they've got 150 people who were pretty good at it featured in the museum. Here is a salute to other Hall of Fames, less known perhaps, but just as, er..famed?
Cowgirl Hall of Fame, Fort Worth Texas
Yeehaa! I'm not much country, but this seems pretty cool and I can bet sure as shootin', that my little girls would love to visit this place. Inductees include Sacajawea, Laura Ingles Wilder, Patsy Cline, and Prairie Rose Henderson (let's face it, if your name is Prairie Rose, you probably have a slight advantage getting in).
Barber Hall of Fame, Canal Winchester, Ohio
All I know is Floyd the barber from Andy Griffith better be in there somewhere. Hey, I like barbers. Let's give them their due. If you want to visit this one you will need to contact the Canal Winchester Chamber of Commerce for more details.
Agriculture Hall of Fame, Bonner Springs, Kansas
We all need food, so this makes sense. Inductees include Abraham Lincoln, George Washington Carver, John Deere, Eli Whitney and Isaac Newton. That's an impressive group.
International Motorsports Hall of Fame, Talladega, Alabama
If you are a racing fan, you are bound to recognize lots of the names in here. I didn't see Ricky Bobby among the names though.
Robot Hall of Fame, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Inductees to this hard wired group include real and "not yet real" robots. There is of course R2-D2, and Hal 9000, but also the Mars Rover.
International Bowling Hall of Fame, St. Louis, Missouri
I didn't recognize any names in here, but I also put the lane bumpers up last time I visited a bowling alley, so I am not the audience for this. If you are a bowling aficionado, this one's for you.
Toy Hall of Fame, Rochester, New York
The Strong Museum of Play houses the National Toy Hall of Fame. Inductees include Barbie, Crayons, Hula Hoop, Play Doh and my personal favorite View-master among many others. Recent inductees include...drum roll...the stick! Yes, the stick. Consider this a holiday shopping idea for that hard to buy for child.
