Harley-Davidson is the iconic American motorcycle brand. But it is also an international icon, with dealerships around the world. In my fantasy of world travel by motorcycle, I'm always on a Harley, and I drop in at the Harley-Davidson dealership for some maintenance, along with some friendly conversation about a shared interest -- motorcycles, of course.
Maybe I'll stop in at the fabulous facility at Casablanca Harley-Davidson in Morocco. After all, I've always wanted to hear my exhaust note echoing off of the Moorish architecture, and I'm eager to park outside of Rick's Café American. I think I'll stay at the Best Western Hotel Toubkal while I'm in Casablanca. Good thing Best Western is a global company as well.
I've always wanted to ride across Australia. I would definitely start my ride in Queensland at Bundaberg Motorcycles. They've even got a HOG chapter there, Wide Bay HOG with riders from Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Maryborough and Childers. I've got to go to a place called "Bundaberg," haven't I? Luckily, there's a Best Western in town, too -- the Best Western Reef Gateway Motor Inn on Takalvan Street.
I can just imagine rolling up to the service bay at Harley-Davidson of Qingdao in the Shibei District of Qingdao City in China. What better way to discover China than on an Electra Glide? Qindao is the home of the Tsingtao Brewing Company , and I love a great factory tour -- especially when that factory is brewing one of my favorite beers. I'd book a room in the beautiful Best Western Premier Qingdao Kilin Crown Hotel, with its Sea-View Revolving Restaurant, indoor tennis courts and bowling alleys.
Perhaps I'll never make it to any of these far-flung places, but it's nice to know that two of my favorite brands have already laid out the welcome mat.
Where would you like to ride your motorcycle?
