Harley-Davidson for 2010
August 4 2009 by Jason Fogelson
Christmas comes early for Harley-Davidson fans, as the Motor Company announces its new lineup every summer. And, despite a downturn in the domestic motorcycle market, Harley-Davidson is heading into 2010 with an aggressive push that they call "the most expansive new-product introduction in the history" of the company.
Here are some details about the new lineup:
The Electra Glide Ultra Limited (starting at $24,699) is loaded down with every option in the book, including a Twin Cam 103 engine, heated grips, a custom fuel tank and a power supply mounted in the Tour-Pak.
The Road Glide Custom (starting at $18,999) strips away the flash, and goes for a lean and mean look with its frame-mounted fairing, chopped windshield and 18" front wheel.
The return of the Wide Glide (starting at $14,999) as a Dyna model will be hailed by many fans. The Wide Glide went the way of the Dodo after the 2008 model year, but now it's back with black laced wheels, a chopped rear fender and other chopper features. Way cool.
If you wanted a trike, but last year's Tri Glide was too conservative for you, you'll love the new Street Glide Trike (starting at $26,999). The new styling, stance and attitude prove that a trike doesn't have to be ordinary.
The Fat Boy Lo (starting at $16,299) joins the Softail family, bringing gorgeous new custom features to the popular model. Satin textures and sleek, hidden wiring bring a new level of sophistication to one of Harley's most iconic bikes.
The Street Glide (starting at $18,999) continues its evolution into an assertive touring bike with the soul of a hot rod. A bigger front wheel, a new exhaust and a new tail lamp transform the sleek roadster into a tough-looking machine.
For a totally different take on two wheels and an engine, Harley-Davidson's VRSC family of motorcycles brings three models to the showroom, carried over from 2009: The V-Rod (starting at $14,999), the Night Rod Special (starting at $16,699) and the V-Rod Muscle (starting at $17,199).
The Sportster lineup for 2010 will include the 883 Low (starting at $6,999), the Iron 883 (starting at $7,999), the Nightster (starting at $9,999), the 1200 Low (starting at $9,899), the 1200 Custom (starting at $9,999) and the XR1200 (starting at $10,799).
In addition, there will be four new limited-production Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) models for 2010: the CVO Softail Convertible, the CVO Street Glide, the CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide and the CVO Fat Bob, each powered by a massive Twin Cam 110 V-Twin engine. Each CVO model is an instant collector's item, not to be missed.
I can't wait to ride each and every new bike!
