H.O.G. Fly & Ride Merges with H-D Authorized Rentals

Most of my motorcycle touring is done on rented Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
I don't own a touring bike, for one thing. My personal ride is a 1993 Harley-Davidson Sportster Deluxe named "Manny." Manny is a great bike, but he's just not designed for touring. A 200-mile day is about the limit, and back-to-back long days are unthinkable. When I want to go for a week-long ride, I want to be on an Electra Glide, Road Glide or Road King.
Also, finding the time to ride is always a challenge. I live in a fantastic, year-round riding environment, but I don't want to be confined to riding near home all the time. I want to see the country, see the world, but I can't devote the extra days to get to another part of the country. I need to fly to my destination, pick up a bike, and ride. So, I have always used Harley Owners Group's Fly & Ride. That has always meant that I had 37 dealership locations around the world where I could pick up a bike. I had to make my reservations at least 3 weeks in advance by calling Harley-Davidson directly.
Harley-Davidson has now combined H.O.G. Fly & Ride with Harley-Davidson Authorized Rentals, effectively making the H.O.G. program almost 10 times bigger than it was before.
Renting through Harley-Davidson Authorized Rentals, H.O.G. members will still receive get a Fly & Ride pin, like before. We'll still get H.O.G. Member Services assistance, and the free use of a Harley-Davidson helmet and rain gear and free short-term luggage storage at the dealership. But the choice of motorcycles will be wider, and reservations can be made online or directly through the dealership -- no need to call Milwaukee any longer. And best of all, for last-minute trips, same-day and one-day reservations are now available.
This is a virtual reinvention of H.O.G. Fly & Ride, which was always one of my favorite (and most-used) benefits of H.O.G. membership. I can't wait for my next ride!
