Holiday Gifts for Motorcyclists

It's that time again. Hard to believe it. The holidays are upon us.

If there's a motorcyclist on your holiday list, you're probably starting to think about a bike-related gift. If there isn't a motorcyclist on your holiday list - feel free to add me.

I'm going to suggest a few gifts for the traveling motorcyclist, for the biker who really enjoys putting on the miles.

MAD Maps: Even when I'm not riding, I'm always thinking about where to go next. A great selection of maps from MAD Maps (Motorcycle Adventure Destinations) can inspire me to plan a trip, and they come in handy during a trip as well. Starting at 99¢ for the MAD Maps iPhone app to $5 for the Adventure America map.

Garmin Zumo GPS: On a motorcycle, not just any GPS unit will do. A traveling motorcyclist needs a GPS unit that is waterproof, shock resistant and easy to operate. The Garmin Zumo is designed specifically for motorcycle applications, and several vendors build bike-specific mounts to make operation even more convenient and safer. From $499 for the Zumo 220.

Men's Dual Source Heated Vest: Most serious bikers already have a closet full of riding jackets. But there's always room for one more vest, especially one that can extend your riding season. Harley-Davidson's Dual Source Heated Vest is thin enough to layer under most every jacket, and works with either a direct connection to a 12V system, or with a 12V rechargeable lithium battery (not included). Vest $195, battery $75.

GoPro HD Motorsports Hero: This is really cool. It's a High Definition video camera that mounts to your helmet. It captures video on an SD card, and weighs just 5.9 ounces with housing and battery. Not only can you shoot 1080p video at 30 frames per second, you can also choose to shoot 5 megapixel still photos at regular intervals (2, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds), capturing cool random shots of your day's travel. I have got to get one of these before my next trip. From $299.

Harley-Davidson Gift Card: If you can't decide what to buy for your favorite motorcyclist, how about the new Harley-Davidson Gift Card?
