iStock_000011753567XSmall.jpgCanadians just finished celebrating Thanksgiving on October10, and for most of the country, we did so in unseasonably warm weather. In fact, I read many accounts on Twitter of families, for the first time ever, having their big turkey dinners outside! I also observed that the weather acted as a catalyst for people to express what they are thankful for.

It also helped inspire this blog - my top five travel-related things that I am most thankful for this year:

5 - My passport! I am very thankful to proudly carry a Canadian passport. Canada's reputation worldwide is second to none and helps fuel my intense patriotism.

4 - I am thankful for my adventurous family who will pick up on a whim and hit the road. They do so with zest and optimism and make the overall travel experience so much better.

3 - Private screens on airplanes that allow you to watch satellite TV in the air. Our last trip had a four-hour flight and at the two-hour mark, I looked across the aisle and smiled as my wife and two young kids sat peacefully, enjoying three separate shows.

2 - Nexus card - if you cross the Canada/U.S. border with any kind of regularity, you need to get a nexus card. Waiting in line (either at the airport or in your car) is a thing of the past. It's like flying first class - once you've experienced it, it's tough to go back. One tip - everyone you are travelling with (including your kids) need to have a nexus card if you all want to jump the line.

I am thankful to Best Western for allowing me to share and learn in such a fantastic forum. I'm also thankful for all the other great contributors who are both adventurous and inspiring.

What things are you thankful for this year? Let's build the ultimate travel list!

    Hi,

I am emailing from a leading advertising agency based in London.
I am getting in touch with you as I am looking for quality websites, such as yours, to place some adverts on your website and would like to know if this is something which would be of interest to you? The placement of our adverts are contextually matched to fit with the content on the page, therefore making it relevant. Do let me know if you are interested to discuss any partnerships with us as we feel the positioning of your website will have strong benefits for both parties.
Please email me back with your thoughts or questions.

    Kind regards,
    Sylvester
