Is Business Travel Back?
August 19 2010 by Chris McGinnis
Last week I attended the National Business Travel Association convention and exposition in Houston, an annual gathering of about 6,000 corporate travel buyers and sellers.
I had a great stay in a big, clean and comfy suite at the Best Western Downtown Inn & Suites, located about a mile from the convention center. (Stay tuned for one of my famous videos highlighting this property...)
If you recall, I attended the same conference in 2009 in San Diego, where the mood was a lot different. Last year, attendees were searching for ways to deal with "the new normal," pondering which airline or hotel chain would file for bankruptcy next. Many attendees worried that technology and teleconferencing would take precedence over face-to-face meetings.
All that changed this year. Check out my short video from the trade show floor in Houston last week to learn how several business insiders (including one from Best Western!) responded when asked if business travel was back. Their answer was crystal clear.
How would YOU respond if I asked you the same question? Have you noticed much change from last year when it comes to your inclination to hit the roads and skies this year? Please leave your comments below.
